"It's you," I whispered and immediately felt the pressure of Matt's and Laney's stares on my back.

I couldn't believe it. The boy that saved me all those years ago was right before me. This was surreal, crazy even. I was pretty sure stuff like this only happened in movies yet here he was, the Merboy.

And he was just staring at me, his coral eyes wide and questioning. Then, without warning he darted forwards, mouth fusing with mine.

Huh?

I could vaguely make out the collective gasp of my friends but little else. It was as if my mind was enveloped in a dense haze, blocking all distractions from the outside world. His lips were warm, pressing with just enough pressure to get my body stimulated, and shooting a blazing heat from our joined mouths all the way down to my toenails. By the time my brain had finally switched back on he had pulled away, his eyes searching mine curiously.

The absence of his lips made the slight breeze more notable as it circled between us, and I shivered, pulling my jacket tighter around myself as I avoided his penetrating gaze.

Awkward silence then:

"You liked that didn't you?"

His face was merely centimeters from my own, giving his breath little choice but to fan over my already heated cheeks and lips.

I feel...strange.

And then his words finally registered in my scrambled mind.

You liked that didn't you?

My jaw practically hit the floor.

W-what!

If it was possible, I'm sure my face would have erupted just then from utter humiliation.

The nerve of this guy! And to think I actually felt indebted to him all these years! Arrogance was one of my major pet-peeves, and it didn't matter that I had waited seven years to see him again, I suddenly just wanted him far, far away.

My pulse was throbbing when I met his eyes, my own narrowed dangerously.

"You kissed me." I reminded him indignantly.

His answering grin was smug and I scowled, the expression only deepening when the idiot had the audacity to even laugh.

Cocky bastard. Just what was so damn funny anyway?

"I only did because you kissed me first," he chuckled, eyes bright. He really did look handsome then, and I had to avert my eyes, "You couldn't wait to get a taste could you?"

Say what?

My body was on fire. Smoke nearly shooting out my ears as I gave him a threatening glower. He was not going flip this all on me!

"I was giving you CPR you imbecile!" I shouted directly in his face, "I could have just let you suffocate you know!"

Right now I kind of wish I would have... the boy was seriously ticking me off.

He chose that moment to reach down, only to frown when his hands came in contact with his thighs.

"Oh yeah, I'm human now," he murmured, but he seemed to be speaking more to himself than to me.

"Wait, wait, wait!" Laney shrieked, causing us both to jump. I had completely forgotten she and Matt were still there, and the realization worried me. Had I really let this obnoxious moron draw me in that much?
