Moonlight was streaming through the curtains when I woke, the red flashing in the corner showing the time. 3:04am. Snuggling comfortably against the warm body that was draped over my own, I sighed in contentment. It felt so good to have someone with me, intimately and affectionately. It's what I missed the most through this lonely journey.
"Demi?" A tired groan escaped the lips that were just centimetres away from my neck, soft puffs warming the skin as she roused.
"I'm awake." It took everything in me not to tense as I anticipated her initial reaction to waking up cuddling me, after the mini breakdown she had earlier. "How're you feeling?"
"Tired." I snickered, feeling her head rub against my shoulder to find a comfortable position. Like a kitten does to her owner's hand, begging for some attention and affection. "What's the time?"
"Just past 3am."
"We've fucked up our sleeping pattern so bad now."
"Oh well. I still feel so tired."
"Me too. How about you put a film on and we might go back to sleep?" I couldn't stop the smile spread across my face, my gentle beating heart now skipping a beat. She wanted to stay here with me, in my bed.
"Y- Yeah, sure!" Reaching over to the wooden bedside table, I swiped the remote, ignoring the little sigh of displeasure from the sleeping beauty on my right.
Looking through the endless films on Netflix, I settled on some random romantic comedy that I know could keep us occupied, yet not be exciting enough to keep us hooked and awake. "I love this film." She hums, angling herself into a better position next to me but also where she could stay close. Ugh, this girl...
"Ok, who's hotter? Justin or Mila?"
"Hmmm, I don't know. Who do you think?"
"Mila Kunis, by far!" She whines, admiring the brunette on the screen.
"I know Mila, quite well so it's pretty weird for me to wanna have sex with her."
"Now, that would be a show." She mutters, earning a slap on the shoulder.
"Camilla!"
"What? I'm pretty sure half the population would agree."
"Well I'm pretty sure that she's married with two children."
"Details, details." She brushes off, still admiring the actress. I couldn't help my gaze from moving over to her, watching as her sleepy eyes twinkle in the light and how her nose twitches every so often. "What?"
"Nothing." As my lips spread in a smile, they only further when her cheeks took a light blush.
"Stop." She whines. "Why are you staring?"
"I just- never mind."
"No, tell me."
"No, I was just looking at you. Forget it."
"You don't just stare at someone, for no reason."
"Well, you are pretty beautiful so forgive me for admiring." Her expression dropped from her sad pout to a serious look, although her eyes stayed soft as she gazed into my own.
"You're so- you're so kind to me. Why?"
"Because you're a good person?" I shrug, not quite sure how to reply.
"But you don't owe me anything, we aren't together-" Ouch. "You're just so sweet all the time."
"Consider yourself special."
"Oh, I do." Before I can turn back to the predictable love story, her lips locked with my own, hands grasping my hair and thighs hooking round my waist. It felt desperate but so passionate that I let all my thoughts and feelings evaporate, losing myself in the brunette across my lap.
"M- Mia." Her fingertips were skimming across the exposed skin at my waist, trailing up as I shivered in anticipation. But my mind was screaming how wrong this was right now. "Mia."
Grasping her hands in my own, I securely moved them away from my body and turned my head so our lips disconnected. "What? What is it?" She panted, looking into my eyes despairingly.
"I can't do this."
"W- What? Why?"
"Because I'm not being the other woman. I think my feelings are pretty obvious but for you? Well, I refuse to confuse your feelings anymore. If you want me, you have me. I'm here. But if not, you go be happy with Mason but you do not get the best of both worlds."
"I don't want the best of both words Demi."
"Do you want Mason?"
"I don't know- I-"
"Then what do you want?"
"I- You. But-"
"Exactly, there's a but. And that's ok. But until you want me and only me. We can't keep doing this." Sadness swarms her dark eyes as she looks down, still straddling my waist.
"That's-" She clears her throat, moving from her position and sliding off the white sheets. "-fine."
"Mia, you don't have to leave. I want you to stay but-" I couldn't even finish the sentence as her figure disappeared from my room, the door slamming shut making her departure all that more real.
I have no clue if I just made the situation worse or a whole lot better.

Swiping the beauty blender under my eyes once more, I sigh and shrug. After Mia left, I barely got any more sleep and became so tempted to spend the day hiding from the result of my actions last night. But after I received a text this morning, I threw on a presentable outfit and decided I had to move on. Maybe Mia would find her happily ever after with Mason and maybe I would have to be okay with that.
"You're up early!" Hai observes, pouring the blended fruit into a glass as her usual preppy self sways to the radio playing in the background. I waved from the glass doors to the other blonde, stretching on the yoga mats in the morning sun. A part of me felt a little relieved that I didn't have to see Mia yet.
"Yeah, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night."
"Oh, that's sucks. Are you ok? Was it your leg?
"No, it's okay and I'm fine, really."
"Do you want breakfast? I've made these amazing smoothies for me and Abs."
"I'm good. Actually, I'm heading out for breakfast."
"Oh, really? Who with? Anyone special?"
"Wilmer Valderrama."
