Claiming that Akelox was surprised would've been a major understatement. Zaxshen, a werewolf who he had originally believed to be cold, rude, and self-centered, was making an effort to be nice to him and Aster. He genuinely did not understand.
Just this morning, he had watched as the guy snapped at her. He had even laughed when she snapped back, despite knowing how rude he was being. But now...
"I'm....into dancing..." Zaxshen mumbled, a tinge of pink dusting his cheeks. Akelox blinked. He glanced at Aster. She seemed surprised too. If only for the way her eyes widened a sliver.
"What kind?" Akelox teased. Aster looked at him. He saw the shift in her expression, but didn't say anything.
"None of your business," the werewolf snapped. The idiot's voice had returned to ice. Akelox resisted the urge to sigh. So much for him making an effort.
Caliza leaned forward. "What classes do you all have next?"
"Chemistry," said Aster.
"Health and Safety," muttered Zaxshen.
"Chemistry," said Akelox.
Caliza pouted as she stood. "You're all lucky. I have Pre-Calculus."
Aster rolled her eyes. Then, the bell rang, and they all got up.
"Aster, we should walk together!" Akelox smirked as he leaned in close to her.
Aster sighed. "I had assumed that was the plan."
Akelox blushed and just nodded, eyes glittering. Zaxshen left, muttering under his breath. Caliza followed, and so it was just him and Aster. He shook his head. What was wrong with him all of a sudden?
"Akelox." Aster was staring at him. He met her gaze. She seemed to hesitate for a moment, before she shook her head. "Never mind."
He only nodded as they started walking. The way she spoke sounded... different. He wanted to ask her what she was going to say... and yet... Something told him not to. It was as if he knew she would close herself off...
But how did he know? It didn't make sense. Unless.... ....No, that would be an issue for another day.
As they walked inside, he looked at Aster. He opened his mouth to say something. Only to see a hand reach out and yank her away from him.
