Chapter 5: Coming Back

Recap:
I groan in annoyance and ignore her. I feel the pressure in my legs as I can sense Icarus not very far behind me. I run in one direction and drop a piece of my clothing, and rub myself against a tree. I run in the complete opposite of that direction. I almost run about four and a half miles in my fit of shock. I'm seriously surprised that I've gotten this far away and him not catching me. I mean isn't he supposed to be the big bad alpha? I laugh at the thought and decide to lay down to rest. My legs are about to give out which is after three or so hours of running. I lay down to rest, when I hear small rustling noises. I'm about to up and jump to run away when I see small yellow eyes look out at me.

I squeal out in fear thinking Icarus snuck up on me. I scramble back away from the glowing yellow eyes. "Get away, get away from me. I told you I'm not yours." A small childish giggle reaches my ears after the words leave my mouth. A small body attacks me in a cuddle as I realize it's a small boy. "Your silly, I like you!" I laugh at myself because Icarus wouldn't be able to catch up with me if he wanted to! 'You should feel ashamed of yourself Malsee. Hurting Mate like this is not okay,we're not gonna be okay.' I roll my eyes at my wolfs dramatic antics. 'Look he can't be that mad. Plus we're not going back so we WILL be okay got it?' I don't wait for a reply and just block our mindlink. I look down the little boy splayed across my thin body. "Who might you be?" The little boy looks up at me. "My name is Thomas, whats your name?" I wonder where this 'Thomas's' parents are? Anyhow I examine his face a bit further. This boy kinda looks like.... Icarus? Oh no, this can't be I mean I'm possibly about a hundred miles out from his territory. I'm pretty sure Icarus doesn't even have any siblings. I hear a howl closing in on me. I mumble to myself a string of cuss words. Then realize Thomas is still here. "My mommy says we don't say those they are NO NO words!" I laugh at his antics "Your mommy is right, Thomas. I'm sorry but I need to go." I stand up and push him off of me lightly. "Is it cause my bubbie is looking for you?" I freeze in my low crouch and look at him. "What do you mean by that Thomas?" He giggles again "Mommy said that my bubbie's mate has run offs. I know he coming now he say he about this many hours away! I never get to see him." My eyes widen when he holds up one finger. After he gets done speaking he has a sad expression. Even if I was to continue running there is no doubt that he is going to find me. I am quite tired of running from all my issues, I mean if you knew my past you would know what I mean. I run a hand down my face which is sticky with sweat from running all the way here. "Thomas can you take me to your house please?" As I get done saying this he takes my hand and drags me toward his house. I laugh at his excitement, I'm already nervous about how Icarus is going to react upon finding me. I already feel the anxiety building in my chest, I rub the spot above my heart. I feel a tug knowing that it's the mate pull of me wanting Icarus. The tugging on my hand stops so I look down at Thomas "Are we here Thomas?" He shakes his tiny head wanting to show me into the house. I laugh at his eagerness kind of reminding me of Icarus. I knock on the door not wanting to just walk in unannounced. "Um, hello? It's me uh Icarus's mate?.." I trail off not knowing what to say. I hear thudding footsteps run into the room. It's a woman that I assume is Icarus's mother, she's beautiful which is to be honest an understatement. The woman has bright blue Chinese looking eyes, long wavy black hair, she's kind of skinny not gross looking though. I can tell she's of Chinese origin which means so is Icarus. I feel my heart flutter, I shake my head. "Oh my god. Icarus will be here any minute what were you thinking running from your mate you silly goose! I swear he's gonna be so angry when he gets here! I'll try to fend him off of you sweetie I know he can be smothering." I kind of laugh at her rambling. " I'll be fine it's nothing I haven't dealt with before. Anyway it's nice to meet you my name is Malsee you must be my mates mother." Her eyes widen at my manners, I guess she was expecting none considering I ran from her son. "Oh I'm sorry my name is Chalcedony. Yes I am Icarus's mother, I hope you have a good explanation young lady! Considering you ran away from my son." It's my turn for my eyes to widen this time, Thomas sees this as his chance to speak " Mommy can I take Maly to my room? Pretty please!!" I laugh at his once again brightened eagerness. Chalcedony looks down at her son disapprovingly "Sweetie let's not smother the poor dear. Why don't you go to your room I need to speak to your brother and this young lady. Now shoo!" I giggle at her as Thomas grumbles to himself while he makes his way upstairs. I start to panic "How long until Icarus gets here?" I say this in a rush. " Oh sweetheart, please calm down I'm not gonna let him get you or anything I promise. Icarus is just like his father all bark and no bite when it comes to their mates." I laugh slightly at this. "So how long do I have to prep myself?" Chalce looks down at her watch for a moment "You have about forty or so minutes depending on if he gets here early or not." I sign out in relief I at least have about an hour. "May I please use your shower?" She nods and makes a follow me motion. As I'm led to the bathroom I think of a way to handle this and come up short. Before I know it I am being pushed into the bathroom. "I'll grab you a towel and a rag. Oh and you can borrow some of my old clothes dear. Take your time it'll be on the sink when you get done." I nod and close the door. I strip out of my clothing as I turn on the shower. As soon as it's warm I step into the tub. The water burns my back as a silent sob racks my body. 'Malsee are you okay?' My body shakes as my wolfs voice shakes in my skull. 'No, I'm not okay. You've been right, I haven't been okay for a long time.' I shake my head at myself 'we need mate Malsee I can't handle this on my own. You need help, mate can help, let him in.' I start to think about it, maybe Icarus can help me. 'Okay I'll let him help me. How are we going to get out of this mess I've made?" Before I hear the reply, hands wrap around my waist. "Mate, you are forgiven. I understand that I've been unreasonable I can not control myself because of the mate bond. I hear all the thoughts in your worried mind, do not be afraid of me kitten." He nuzzles his head into my shoulder. I freeze at the fact that I am standing in the shower with my mate in full clothes soaking wet. "What the absolute Fuck Icarus! I'm in the goddamn shower!"
I still smile slightly at his words, I push my back against his chest. I feel a low rumble run through him at the contact. "I'm sorry mate I'll leave you to get dressed." Icarus steps out of the shower dripping wet not before peeking a bit at my naked body. At seeing this I roll my eyes, the door closes as he leaves. I turn the water off after ten minutes, I step out and dry off thinking about what's to come as I pull on my clothing.
