today is beverly's funeral

i let my tears flow the whole morning

richie and eddie are gonna be there

so are a lot of our classmates

i see her dad and by the look of him

i know who gave her the bruises

after the opening ceremony

i go up to present my eulogy

i can hardly hold back tears

but i do it anyway

for beverly

i start off

"there was a new girl at school..."
