The life of a personal assistant does not get very exciting, especially when you are a PA to a PA. Working for Modest! Management had it's perks, many musicians and celebrities passed through the office on a daily basis, but being second in command I saw very little of this.

My job mainly curtailed of answering phones, going on coffee runs and hanging up jackets. It wasn't a hard job, it paid enough to pay for rent and then to have enough left over to spend a little on myself each month. What more could you want, right?

I rolled over in my bed and sighed hugging my pillow into my chest like a teddy bear. My eyes flickered and landed on my alarm clock. 8:25am.

"Shit" I shrieked, I had to be in the office by 8:45.

I jumped from my bed and grabbed a brush, clean underwear and clothes I had laid out from the night before, because I had nothing better to do, and sprinted to the bathroom. After running a brush through my hair and pulling it into a top knot and stumbling into my clothes I decided makeup wasn't the most important issue, just getting into the office.

I grabbed keys and my handbag as I ran out the door onto the streets of London, slamming the door behind me. I picked up my pace and began my jog to work. Usually a 20 minute walk had to be a 10 minute run if possible. Five minutes in my chest was heaving and every breath I took set my lungs and throat on fire. I pushed on ahead, I'd never been late in my life and I wasn't going to let this morning tarnish my perfect record.

The shinny office building came into my sight and I let on a slight sigh. I picked up the pace and ran through the shinny glass front doors and towards the lift. I muttered curse words under my breath as the obnoxious music played in the background. I bolted through the gap in the lift doors once the opened on the right floor.

"I'm so sorry, am I fired?" I questioned catching my breath.

"Why would you be fired Alison? You're on time as always" Kate said, giving me a confused look.

Kate was my boss, PA to Matt Emsell. She had been here for a long while, a woman in her late 20's but still wise beyond her years. I looked up to this woman, she was well respected in her line of work, something I strived to achieave wherever I ended up in life.

"I'm on time?" I questioned looking at the clock, and indeed i was, bang on 8:45am, "I just sprinted here because I over slept"

"Oh Alison" she laughed, taking her position at her desk. I went to the bathroom and sorted out my windswept hair and my uncovered face. I let my dip dyed blonde hair fall from the top knot and fall in loose waves to just below my shoulders. I grabbed my makeup bag out off my handbag and put foundation on and lined my grey eyes with black liner and mascara and I was ready to face the day. I took a seat at my desk an turned on my computer and waited for it to load with todays appointments and to-do lists.

I settled into replying emails as Matt Emsell arrived.

"Good morning sir" I smiled at him and replied to another email. He smiled back and talked to Kate about today's workload.

The phone rang on my desk and I prepared my telephone voice for the call.

"Hello, Matt Emsell's office, how may I help you?" I said with a smile as Matt watched me. I talked and redirected the call to Matt's main office. I sighed and fixed my hair.

"I'm going on a coffee run, usual?" I asked Kate and she nodded. I gathered my things and made my way to Starbucks. I breathed in the coffee smell as I stepped through the door and joined the queue. The girl behind the till recognised me and asked was it my usual. I nodded with a smile and paid and waited for my drinks. Once my name was called I collected my drinks and headed back to the office.

Once settled into my desk chair again Kate took her coffee.

"So 5 Seconds of Summer's publicist is in there now" Kate said, pointing to Matt's office, "And doesn't sound like it's going well"

My eyes automatically went to the office door. I had heard of the phrase "there's no such thing as bad publicity", but obviously I was wrong. I had heard a few things going on with the band, mainly the band's drummer and how he was apparently off the rails, sleeping around, several accounts of him being drunk on stage and question marks over an incident regarding drugs. It was none of my business though, I'd never know him and it wasn't my place to pass judgement. It was his life to lead.

The door handle twitches slightly alerting myself and Kate, we scrapped back to our positions and began to fake type and check things over.

"Well think about what I said Matt" a woman said with blonde hair.

"I will, but I'm not promising anything" Matt said with a frown.

"Well I'll be back on Friday, you can let me know" she said and left the office. Matt sighed and closed his door, leaving myself and Kate very confused at what had happened. Kate sent me a shrug and I sighed before we continued on with things.

After the morning nothing out of the ordinary happened. The day past and clocking out time was apon us. I made my way home, skipping the gym because of my 15 minute run this morning, feeling that was enough exercise for one day. I opened the door on my apartment, kicking off my shoes and headed towards the kitchen in search of snacks. I settled with microwave popcorn and changed from work clothes into a onesie.

I plonked myself on the couch and turned on the television, channel surfing until I found Here Comes Honey BooBoo. What could I say, I led a sad life. My phone vibrating beside me brought me back to reality. I smiled when I saw it was my best friend, Megan, who just happened to change her name to "god" on my phone and I hadn't bothered to change it back.

"Hello Alison speaking, how may I redirect your call?" I joked answering.

"Ohh you're so posh on the phone" Megan giggled.

"I know, you'd never think I was a Dublin born girl at all" I said. I picked up the remote and started channel surfing again. "So any news?"

"Nah nothing, still working in the bar till something else crops up. Oh and I may have kissed Liam" Megan said casually.

"You what?" I shrieked. As long as Megan had been in Bromley working in the bar she has a crush on Liam. Although I had never met the chap he seemed to be fairly decent.

"I know" Megan squealed, "It was amazing, proper romantic too, like major butterflies"

"Aww Megs that's amazing, I'm so happy for you" I said. I genuinely was but I couldn't help a pang of jealously hit me either.

"You don't sound to convincing Ali" she said.

"I am" I sighed, "I'm just a tad jealous, no one has given me a second glance in such a long time and we all know my last relationship wasn't the best"

"I know Ali, but that didn't work out because it was him. He was a douche and an asshole and a complete wanker. You'll find Mr Right someday soon Ali, look at me. I've got a date on Friday, who would've put me and date in the same sentence last year" Megan said, laughing at her own joke.

"I guess you're right. I gotta go, pizza's here. I'll ring you tomorrow" I said before I hung up.

I let my phone rest on my stomach and sighed deeply. Mr Right sounded like a fairytale, and not many of them came true. I pulled a blanket over myself and got comfy for another lonely night in front of the tv.

...

So this is rather boring as a first chapter and the next couple will be too but stick with me and I hope you enjoy.
