My eyes were slowly starting to shut but the women kept holding my wrist and telling me that its gonna be okay. She brushes my hair and kept me company until the ambulance came. I honestly never felt such warmth in my life. I started to cry even though I said I wouldn't. I couldn't move my arm to wipe my tears away so I let snot run down my nose like a river nonstop. I whispered to her but my voice was so cracked and I was hurting so bad all I said was. "I'm not okay...I...cant- this.." She interrupted me and wiped my cheeks with a napkin she pulled out of her pocket. "Don't say a word. You'll be okay! Help is coming soon!" In her voice, she started to lose hope and she panicked. She turned away and waved her arms up to signal any cars for help. It didn't seem like that ambulance would be here anytime soon. "Fuck!" she yelled but tried to keep her cool after that little meltdown.
I looked at her and let out a small laugh. My eyes finally began closing; I couldn't leave them open for too long. It's time to rest. I let out my last breath into the cold air then I saw darkness. I couldn't see anything, feel anything or hear anything. Just darkness...
Monday morning at Saint Agnes Hospital I woke up to the warmth of the sun shining through the hospital window and the sound of the beeping machine. The woman that helped me was sleeping on a chair next to my bed. She had black long hair with the cutest bangs, sweet milky skin with a touch of rose plump cheeks. A brown buttoned-down coat, a pair of pink uggs and a scarf covering her mouth and providing support for her neck. She looked so peaceful and cute sleeping ever so soundly. Then the curtains opened and a nurse came in with a tray of breakfast meals. She smiled at me and took out a pen and a notepad. "Good Morning Miss Adams, pick what you like," the nurse said while going up to check my heart rate on the machine. Everything on the tray looked so delicious I wanted everything. "I heard this woman saved your life. Be sure to thank her when she wakes up." The nurse said nicely and clicked her pen close. She turned around and look at the tray then back at me. My face probably looked scruffed up and gross after the fall. I gave the nurse a little smile. I was so thankful for being in this warm bed and to be served a nice hot meal. "Eggs...? Toast?" she asked. I nodded; Anything sounds good right now. The nurse put two plates on the bedside table next to me. And she poured two glasses of water as well then went on her way. I turned my head to the women and smiled. She started to wake up. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the window which blinded her before she could look at me. She got up and closed the blinds. "Whoa, that was blinding" She turned around and looked at me. Before she could say anything she quickly fixed her hair. "Hi there. I'm Fiona it's so nice to meet you. How are you feeling?" She asked politely. "Never been better...I guess." I said back. This felt a bit awkward to me but I guess the Fiona was okay.
"Good! I'm so glad your okay and not...well...dead." She put her hands in her pocket and stood there looking at me. "Ah, Here let me adjust your bed." She bent over to adjust the bed to sitting mode. Her face felt close to mine but she just looked around to avoid the awkwardness of the situation. She placed a plate of scrambled eggs and toast on my lap. "Want me to feed you or...?" She asked. I tried lifting my arm but they really hurt so I nodded yes. She pulled up a chair and feed me. I felt very stupid and useless but one thought lingered in my head. Why was she doing this? A total and absolute stranger. I didn't want to be rude and ask why! It's not like you can avoid a body laying cold on the street. I appreciated her help a lot. After we finished eating Fiona sat at my side and looked me sighing. "Why didn't you go home? I bet your husband and kids miss you." I said. Assuming she had a husband and like three kids. I mean look at her..she's perfect. Fiona laughed and shook her head. "Husband? Kids? No. Ha." Her awkward laughter died down and focused back on me.
"So.. Stacy right?. I know its none of my business but...How did you fall off that building? What happened?" she asked.
