AUSTIN, TEXAS, AUGUST 1959
The rain had followed Bill and Gloria to Austin as Ace had warned. They didn't mind it, they were too excited about being in the city. Their new home, full of new prospects. When they arrived they quickly found a cheap motel, throwing their bags inside and were swiftly on their way to the courthouse luckily having time to spare from their journey. They couldn't help but feel giddy when they walked hand in hand to the downtown. They were practically in and out of the place since it was near closing hours and the jaded city workers wanted the sickly in love couple out and on their way. Outside, Bill picked Gloria up from her feet and swung her around as he kissed her outside atop the damp steep steps. Finally, husband and wife.
Currently, they found themselves at a local country diner, their marriage certificate sat on the table proudly on display in front of them. They were having maybe the last proper meal they'd have in a while. Since money was scarce, most likely they'd live on sandwiches until they found an apartment. But they weren't stressing over that quite yet. Instead, they were busy watching the rain pitter patter on the window at the booth they sat at, making each other laugh.
"You're my wife you know that?" Bill whispered in her ear as they waited on the large vanilla milkshake he ordered for her. "You're my baby forever."
Gloria giggled. "No, you're my baby forever," she leaned up to kiss him.
Their bubble was viciously popped when the waitress harshly sat down their milkshake looking at them utterly annoyed. "Extra whipped cream and chocolate jimmy's like you said," she said handing Bill their check.
Without a wedding cake, they instead shared a creamy delicious milkshake. While Bill sipped from his straw he felt Gloria's hand softly lay on his upper thigh and he knew where her intentions lie. Her hand slid further up, feeling him through his blue jeans making him lightly jolt.
"What are you doing?" He chuckled.
"You make that milkshake look so good," she whispered in his ear.
Bill raised his brows and his jaw slightly dropped in surprise with how she was speaking to him. With her finger, she flicked a bit of whipped cream from atop the shake and brought it to his lips. "Do you want a taste?" she asked. Bill sucked the cream from her finger quickly before repeating her action in coating his pointer finger as well.
Gloria grabbed his fist, bringing his pointer finger far into her mouth before drawing back to lightly suck the sweet cream off his finger. She released his fingertip with a little pop and lightly blushed.
"You're going to kill me," he smirked. "A-are you done?" He said reaching for his wallet in his back pocket in a hurry. "We can't be here acting like this," he said slapping down a dollar and 50 cents on the table.
Gloria smiled mischievously and took his hand and together they were out the diner in a fit of giggles.
...When Bill pulled up to the motel in the truck an air of nerves and tension was surrounding them suddenly. He could even tell Gloria seem apprehensive even when he opened the door to their room. Her confidence from the diner took a back seat when the validity to consummate their marriage hit her.
"C'mon love, in my arms, right?" He said trying to ease her and lighten the mood. Gloria smiled and let her husband sweep her off her feet and carry her through the threshold.
Bill kissed the crown of her head before gently setting her down to her feet. He held both of her hands giving them a reassuring squeeze. He knew he had to be sensitive to her feelings knowing that his wife had never done anything like what they were about to get into.
