Chapter 18: Feeling Better

Emma’s P.O.V.

I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm going off. I quickly remembered why I had set it and practically jumped out of bed to turn it off. As soon as it was off I glanced towards Liam, making sure he didn’t wake up. He stirred in his sleep and mumbled something, which caused me to giggle but then shut up because I remembered that I couldn’t wake him.

After changing I crept up the stairs, made myself some toast, grabbed my bag and was out the door. It was a quick five-minute drive to the club so I decided I might as well turn on the radio. The minute I had clicked the on button What Makes You Beautiful was blasting through my car stereo. I giggled once again as I turned up the volume and pulled out of my driveway.

I took a deep breath in, chlorine. I smiled. This is the smell that is so familiar to me, the one that I have grown to know and love. I walked over to a table and took off my cloths leaving me in just my swimsuit. After stuffing everything back into my bag except my cap and goggles I took out my inhaler. I sighed. I didn’t want to take it but I knew I had to. I mean I shouldn’t even be here in the first place. If Liam found out he would flip for sure, but he’s not going to and I am determined to keep it that way.

Once I was done taking my inhaler I walked over to the closest empty lane, putting my hair into a bun as I did so. When I had arrived at the lane I stepped down into the gutter letting the cool water touch my feet. After putting my cap over my head and my goggles over my eyes I took a deep breath and dove into the pool.

As I came up to the surface I couldn’t help but smile. This is what I loved, the feeling of the water on my body, the water rushing past my face, my hands ‘moving’ the water as my coach would say it. I flipped onto my back and just floated smiling like a goon. I’m betting I look pretty stupid right now but I don’t care, I don’t care one bit.

After staying like that for a while I began to swim laps. Just back and forth. Clearing my head. It was the best feeling in the world. I didn’t even try to do any sets or anything like that because as I have said before I’m not even suppose to be here in the first place so I thought I would take it easy, at least for now.

Finally stopping to see how much time has passed I glanced up at the clock and noticed it had been an hour and a half since I had gotten in the water. Geeze, time goes fast. I pouted to myself as I realized it was now 7 which means Liam would be getting up in about a hour (because for some crazy reason he is a morning person) which means I have to get out now.

I pulled off my cap and goggles and pulled out the hair tie in my hair causing my hair to fall to my shoulders. I took a breath before dunking my head underwater, as I came up I pushed myself out of the pool and walked towards all my stuff.

After showering and getting changed I walked out of the club and over to my car. I took note that today was already sunny which meant the rest of the day was going to be nice too.

Before going home I decided I would stop at the grocery store, which is right by the club. It was 7:30 so I figured I had enough time to get some stuff for breakfast and start cooking it before Liam and the others woke up.

As I was walking down the store isle’s looking for some bisquick I ran into someone.

“Oh, I’m sorry” I said lifting my head to see whom I had run into.

“Carly?”

“Emma?! Hi!” Carly said bringing me in for a hug. Carly was one of my friends from school.

“Er Hi..” I said awkwardly being crushed.

“I heard about what happened! I am so sorry! How are you doing?”
