*Chapter 24: Epilogue *
1 Year Later : Senior Year
"Ally," Hunter said, warningly. "Hand me the letter."
"No!" I cried. "Then you'll open it and announce the disappointing words," I told him, frowning.
"Ally," he said again, stepping closer.
I ran out of the kitchen and through the sliding doors, into Hunter's back yard. Seconds later, he was there, too, chasing me as I clutched onto the envelope for dear life. I opened the gate and ran through it, running around to the front of the house before crossing onto my front lawn.
I climbed the front steps before looking behind me and smiling when I saw that Hunter had just rounded to the front of the house. I shrieked before turning forward, only to smack my head on the large piece of oak. I stumbled with the knob before turning it and entering my house.
I ran into my kitchen, grabbing a knife.
Suddenly, my mom walked in and stared at me wide-eyed, glancing between me and the knife.
"Ally!" she scolded, stalking towards me. "I told you not to touch the knives!" she yelled before taking it from me and putting it back in the butcher's block.
"But-"
I was cut off when I came tumbling to the ground, a large weight on me. My head never hit the floor due to the soft cushion underneath me, which was Hunter's arm. Well, it wasn't exactly a cushion considering he was buff but it was better than the hardwood floor.
I let out a shriek as my body collided with the floor.
"Hey, at least I protected your head," he said.
"Gee, thanks," I said, sarcastically.
"Now, if you'll excuse me," he said, snatching the envelope out of my hand quickly and then jumping up.
I gasped before chasing him outside. We were in m backyard and he was about a two feet in front of me. It's now or never, I thought before I jumped, landing on his back. Hunter stumbled and crashed down onto the floor.
"Give it back," I said.
"Allison Rose Lockwood," called a voice.
My eyebrows shot up in surprise as I glanced to my left to see my angry father staring at me with a disapproving look. Even after dating Hunter for about a year, he still hasn't grown that much.
"Oh, hey," I said, sheepishly, scratching the back of my neck.
"Here, now," he yelled.
I stood up and walked over to my dad.
"If I ever catch you like that again-"
"Ally," Hunter called.
"You will be in-"
"Ally."
"Serious trouble."
"ALLY!" Hunter yelled.
I turned my attention to him to see him a few feet away, standing at the bottom of the deck stair, the letter open in his hands as he stared at it.
My eyes widened and I shook my head. "I knew it. I wasn't going to get in. Well, then I guess I won't be seeing you a lot," I said, looking down at m shoes.
"No, Ally, no," Hunter said, coming over to me and wrapping me in his arms. Then he pulled away and held me at arms length, his hands on my shoulders as he gave me a small smile. "You got in."
