I sit in silence, confused and surprised, my kidnapper was crying on my shoulder. Shouldn't I be the one crying? "I, uhh..." I stammered awkwardly. Tyler stood up abruptly and turned away from me quickly. Running his fingers through his dark hair, he let out a heavy sigh. "Sorry, lost my cool.' He replied, facing me again with a sly smirk. I simply stared at him in confusion for a moment, "When can I go home?" I muttered, looking down to my feet. "This is your home, princess. Get comfortable." He sneered and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him. I burst off of the bed and to the door. "Locked." I said to myself. I continued planning my escape, "I could ask to come down and eat, then make a run for it. or maybe i could pick the lock, but I don't really know how... I could call someone, but I didn't really get a chance to grab my cell before getting snatched." I thought to myself, deciding to try the food card. I hesitantly stood and walked to the door, placing my ear against the cold surface. I could hear a T.V., a ceiling fan, and someone playing piano in the distance. "I could take the high road, but I know that I'm going low... I'm a ban- I'm a bandito." I heard Tyler quietly singing. His sweet, genuine, voice usually melted my heart, but right now it curdled my blood and filled me with fear. First, I took a bobby pin out of my hair and tried to unbend it. "Ouch, this is hard." The thick wire kept bending more, and twisting in opposite directions. "Finally!" I exclaimed quietly. "Let's see if i can figure this out..." I poked the pin into the lock, wiggled it around a little, but nothing happened. "Hmmm, let's take a closer look..." I tried to take a peek into the key hole, but all I could see was darkness. While keeping my face in front of the hole, I felt around the wall for the lightswitch and flipped it on. "Ah!" I saw another smaller hole inside the knob, and i put the bobby through it as well. With a little wiggle, the door clicked. "Okay, im gonna be as quiet as possible. Tyler is obviously busy, but I have no idea where Josh is." I opened the door slowly, but just before it was open enough to squeeze through, it let out a loud "squeeeeeeeek." "Oh no" I whispered, squeezing my eyes shut and clenching my fist around the knob nervously. The piano kept on playing, Tyler continued to sing. I quickly slid myself out of the room and closed the door, making sure it was still locked. The hallway was dark, and the carpet was thick and soft below my shoes, ensuring my footsteps wouldn't make any noise. I crept down the stairs, pressing myself into the wall as I descended, the sound of music getting quieter and quieter as I proceeded. "Guess his room was close to Josh's" I pondered. As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I quickly glanced around the large living area, there was no sign of Josh as far as I could see. I took a step forward, only to be met with a loud "Smack" sound as my foot hit the floor. "Oh no, hardwood floors." I froze and shrunk back into the dark staircase. "What am I gonna do? just run across? Try to tiptoe? What if the floor creaks? What do I do?" I thought frantically, grabbing my hair. "Are you okay?" A voice behind me whispered. I spun around and almost yelped in surprise, but Josh softly covered my mouth with his hand. He lifted a finger from his other hand to his lips in a shushing motion. "You can trust me, let me help you." He whispered, and led me back to his room.
