Junyeon's POV
I slowly opened the gym door as I heard practice was going on.
I transferred to Karasuno, looking for a club in order to please my parents who expects a lot from me.
That I both hate and love at the same time. And I can't even explain why.
I just do.
I'm not the best player or know all of the rules in volleyball but I do know what to do and what part I wanted.
I only had experience in a game that my middle school had for a sports topic and that's it.
I had to choose a position before my sensei could fail me.
The only position open was the role of the setter.
I took the chance and did my part but that was it.
And now that I moved out of Tokyo and went to Miyagi, I happened to get lost, so pathetic, and ended up in Karasuno to find this orange, tangerine guy who irritated me for some reason that he'd be the only one on the court standing.
Not only did he amaze me with his flight. He made me think that, this guy is surely going to be an amazing player than he already is right now.
"No one ever stands on the court alone."
I said smugly.
"I sounded so cool didn't I?"
"I bet I can say something even more cooler! The way you explained everything that happened was so awesome!" Hinata beamed, I slightly got flustered as he leaned against me.
"Did I really amaze you with my jump!? I'm so happy! ! That mean former setter of mine only insulted me to my limits! Grr!"
Hm?
"Former setter?"
"Surely you don't know the King of the Court? He used to be a tyrant in some powerhouse school." Tsukishima said.
I tilted my head, scrunching my nose.
"Never heard of him. But whoever that ex-setter of yours is. . " I trailed off as everyone in the team looked at me, waiting for me to finish.
I closed my eyes and calmed down.
"I swear I'll be ten thousand times better."
Hinata and Nishinoya-senpai shivered. "S-so cool!"
"Y'know for a rookie- - ! !" The captain, Tanaka-senpai slapped my back.
He smirked down at me, "You ain't bad at all."
"Does he still need to play to officially get in the club?" The manager, Yachi-san asked timidly.
Coach Ukai stepped in, "No, no. He and Hinata already showed us something worth watching. I gotta say. . "
Me and Hinata looked up at him since we were on the floor.
"You two. . will be Karasuno's new power duo."
"! !"
"! !"
Power. . Duo. . !
"Sounds so cool!" I exclaimed.
"HAHAHA! You bet it is! Junyeon!"
I faced Hinata as he called me and got tossed a jersey #9.
My eyes clouded as I even tried to think about their former setter and why he'd leave this warm team for a powerhouse school at Tokyo.
"Junyeon!!"
I looked up to see everyone on their backs, pointing at their jerseys that said 'Karasuno High'
"WELCOME TO THE TEAM!!"
My lips trembled in an emotion I rarely feel, excitement.
I could feel my eyes sparkling. I gripped on the jersey.
I'll do my best and be the best setter I can be.
I swear I'll be better than the other setters out there and send the perfect toss to my spiker. .
I can't really guarantee a perfect toss but I'll. .
My eyes traced over to my spiker.
I'll definitely send him a good one.
