At the hospital, I ran to the desk with Ashton wrapped around me. His big black Nirvana sweatshirt was zipped over me as all I had was my short sleeved crop top and high waisted shorts. The police wouldnt tell me more then that my parents and sister were in a car crash. Of course I expected the worst.
But not worse enough.
"Your mum and sister were killed immediatley, right when the truck hit them. Your dad was on the drivers side, and the truck hit the passenger side. He lived long enough to get here, but died just a few minutes later. He was unresponsive from the sight of the crash. Im so sorry Gryffin, we did all we could," said the nurse. My knees shook so hard that I couldnt stand anymore. Ashton tried to hold me up, but slowly let me sit on the ground.
"You should have done more!," I cried. "You should have brought my dad back!"
"We tried our best," the nurse said, getting nervous.
"Please, give her a minute," Ashton said, and I started to black out.
Ashton's P.O.V.
Even I was ready to cry when I heard about Gryff's family. I know how close she was to her sister. After hearing about what happened, Gryffin had passed out and I carried her to a room behind the nurse.
"Does she have any family?," the nurse asked as she pulled a blanket over Gryff and layed a cold wash cloth over her forehead.
"No. Neither of her parents have any siblings. Her dads parents are gone and her mum's dad is gone. Her mum's mum is still living, but she is in a nursing home with demensia. Her parents and sister were everything to Gryffin. Everything."
When Gryffin woke up, they called a child care caseworker, assigning them to the case of finding placement for her. This scared me, and I wanted to know now what was happening to my love.
Gryffin's P.O.V.
They had me staying at a room in the hospital; I was having issues dealing with this. But at least they let me have Tux. The next day, the one after I went to the hospital the first time, The police and caseworker took me to the house. I knew mum had her will and emergancy residence papers. They wouldnt let me look at them.
"Here they are," I said, digging into the metal box that had all the families papers in them.
The caseworker took it, my lawyer behind me. At the office, I sat there in black leggings and heather grey school volleyball hoodie. My caseworker then took me to the house to start dealing with everything I had to pack up and figure out. I called and texted Celeste and Ashton every night in the lonely hospital. Monday, my caseworker Amanda and I got boxes and started packing things up. Kate and I's god father, Kevin, was deployed and not married, and I couldnt exactly go live in Kuwait with him. My godmother was busy with 4 kids, a drunk husband and 3 jobs; not suited for another child.
"Darling, we can put everything in storage, and deal with it when the time is right. Please, dont worry about anything, I dont want you to be stressed. About anything," Amanda said, taping up a box of old pictures that I wanted to take with me. "You'll love your new home."
Love my new home? What am I, a dog being adopted?
But whatever. There is nothing I can do but pack up and move on. Move on from this perfect life.
To a perfect nightmare.
