A young girl is shuffling around, clearing inexpensive dishes from a once-expensive table. You see her as you see all things, from an outsider's perspective, but clearly nonetheless. She's not very tall, perhaps no more than fifteen years old. Her hair is a silver like polished metal, short and feathery. She wears a long-sleeved shirt of dark cloth with a corseted vest of thin material and a plain calf-length skirt.
Her face is still, you hear music playing that she is not moving to. In fact, she seems to not take into account anything but the stacked plates and silverware. She does not acknowledge the other person that steps into the room, or the question directed at her. A sealed letter is hastily tossed on the table and the person, a woman, leaves.
This would, in some cases, be the beginning of a great adventure; but you know it's just a confirmation for an order she placed. She begins to clean the dishes. She breaks one of the plates accidentally and slides it out the window into the garden below.

"The earth will reclaim it, and if not, then my mother," she whispers to herself.
