“I gave you money. I gave you a place to lay your head at night. Most of all, I gave you...a purpose.”

I kept my eyes closed, but I could still hear his footsteps. Keeping a steady pace as he circled me, glaring at me as I sat tied to a folding chair. I’ve seen this happen so many times, and every time that door opens, only the Joker comes out. The room for henchmen that fuck up. Boy, did i fuck up royally.

“Look at me!” His voice became louder and deep, yelling into my ear. My head snapped up, finally looking him right in the eyes. He was furious. His body slightly shaking with each exhale.  “All this time….while you were living under my roof, you didn't think it’d be important to mention that you used to work closely with The Bat?!” He walked around till he was behind me, slamming his hands down on my shoulders. There would certainly be bruises there, as he gripped so tight it caused me to wince.

“I… I didn't want you to reject me. Look at the condition I was in when you found me! It's not like he exactly took care of me. I wanted nothing more to do with him…”

Still standing behind me, he slightly loosened his grip on my shoulders, now beginning to run his hands down the front of my torso. My breath hitched as his hands moved down my body, grazing my breasts on the way down. His head lowered down, now right next to my ear; close enough for me to hear him lick and smack his lips before speaking. “The Bat, a worse boss than me? I’m almost touched. If I believe you.”

“What do I have to do? Just tell me what you want me to do. Do you want me to kill him? Is that it?”

He erupted into a fit of high pitched laughter, holding his sides as if I just told the funniest joke. “Kill him?? Oh doll, you have so much to learn. No, I have something much better in mind.”

The night air was chilly, but I still couldn't force myself to wear a jacket. The heat building up inside me was more than enough to keep me warm. Although the nervous shaking of my body could have been mistaken for shivering.

I stood out in front of a small building Batman used to have us meet at. It always slightly bothered me that he expected all of my information when we worked together, but still didn't trust me with his actual identity. Probably for the best on his part. Otherwise, I'd have exposed him to The Joker. My shaking hands clutched my cell phone as I looked at the last text from Bats. “Be there soon.”

As if I had summoned him by thought, I saw his black motorcycle pull up to the dark entrance where I stood. The only light that shone was a small wall light above the door. For a moment he said nothing. Just sat there, leaning on his right leg in my direction. Finally, his husky voice emerged.

“I almost ignored your message entirely. But given the way we parted, I had to see what could possibly be important enough for you to stomach getting in touch with me.”

His words were thick with resentment and sarcasm. He has some fucking nerve. Biting back the stream of insults that wanted to spew out, I swallowed and replied. “Come on, do you hate me so much? You were the one who told me to leave.”

“Only after you crossed the line. What do you want?” His tone grew sharper. Well, guess I'm skipping the sweet talk. I took two steps back into the signal spot, and grinned.

     “Nothing. Just you. Defenseless.”

The door beside me swung open, and a deep green tinted mist sprayed out. The spot i stood in kept me just out of the effect radius. The mist caught Bats off guard. Partially reaching his mask, before he stumbled back. All it needed was that small amount of contact. His steps became uneven and weak, knees buckling as he tried to get away. The machine that was set off stopped spraying and I took the opportunity to make my way over to him before he fully went lights out. Making sure my face was the last thing he saw. Sweet dreams, Bats.

“Wakey wakey!” Joker's voice teased in a sing-song rhythm. Batman sat, securely chained to a bench against the wall of this room. The walls were soundproof,  and all that was inside was the bench, a dull metal desk, a chair behind the desk, and a tall chest with a padlock. Never been in this room before… Almost afraid to ask what the hell he uses it for.

“Sleeping on the job. What a shame.” Batman groaned as he started to come to. I expected capturing him to be harder than this… Maybe I seriously underestimated how much he trusted me. Although he couldn't blame me, after the way he treated me.

Still...I felt sorry for him, in a way. As he regained mental clarity, he looked around the room and turned his gaze to me. I couldn't see much of his expression because of his mask, but his eyes said it all. Transforming from a hurt and betrayed look, to a furious glare. “You… You sold me out. And to The Joker?! Are you that mad that I wouldn't open up to you??”

“It was more than that, and you know it. You tried to be more… But I wouldn't date someone I barely even know. And you ‘fired’ me.”

Joker's eyebrow raised curiously, spinning around with a wide grin across his face. The kind of look he has when he starts getting ideas. And whatever idea was cooking up in his head, wouldn't be good for our little masked friend. “Well, this is news to me. But now it all makes sense.” His boots thudded heavily on the tile floor. Each step slow and almost taunting. “You uh, want her.” I felt the warmth of his presence behind me, as I stood behind a table that was placed in the middle of the room.

“Lets have some fun with that.”
