Gene face planted on his bed and screeched into his pillow. There was no way he was losing to Draw. He was going to get her to confess no matter what.
He didn't know how she didn't figure out that he lost long ago. She was his lock and home screen, there was at least five heart emojis with her contact name, and he was spending all his time talking with her.
"Are you okay?" Dante, Gene's younger brother, inquired.
"How do I tell someone I love them when my pride is on the line?" Gene asked.
"What did you do?"
"I made a bet with Draw that I couldn't fall in love with her after acting like a couple for... Irene, it's been like two months already. But I lost about two weeks in. She doesn't know yet. I refuse to lose, but so does she."
"Say you like her. If you lose, you at least get a girlfriend."
"I'm not losing. I don't want to admit it."
"Alright. Your loss. You might be letting go of a really great girl." Dante shrugged and walked out of the room.
Gene grabbed his pillow and screamed into it. Draw had already ruined him, and she wasn't going to stop until she won.
Draw hadn't even ruined him in a bad way. She had made him nicer, friendlier, and more confident. He had someone to lean on, someone to cry to. She was so close to being his.
Gene thought over what Dante had said. Gene was likely missing out on an amazing girl. No, he was missing out on a great girl.
Gene's phone buzzed and he all but jumped off his bed to get his phone from his dresser. He picked up his phone and unlocked it.
Draw had sent a selfie in one of the sweatshirts Gene had left over her house while hanging out with Herobria. The hoodie was way too big for her and she was hiding most of her face.
"Cute?" Draw had added with the image.
Gene choked on air. He typed back "Yeah." Before dropping his phone. He felt like he was going to have a heart attack from how adorable Draw looked.
Gene took a few deep breaths and sent Draw another text. "Meet me at the park in twenty. I'll be near the swing set."
Gene quickly got a "Sure! See you soon." Text. He smiled and grabbed his wallet. If everything went right, he may end up winning.
