Trust is all it takes

One - Sonic

I ran and I ran, not stopping as I was being chased by that egg shaped man, their gone, gone forever

I couldn't stop the tears from falling as I made it to the old and broken bridge, the one over the raging rapids that were too dangerous for even the expert swimmers to survive

"Stop running, there's nowhere to go except...down" the bridge began to break as the man laughed insanely, some of his robots were cutting the ropes holding the old bridge together

I tried running to the other side, but robots were blocking my path as they too began cutting the ropes

Tears fell from my eyes as I stared at the bald man, I was terrified, I could swim, but not in this river

" say hello to your parents for me " he smirked a twisted smirk

I stared at him in fear, I knew what he was doing but I couldn't do anything to stop him, I just shook in fear

" good bye Maurice " with that said I heard the ropes snap on either end, I felt like everything was going in slow motion

The bridge crumbled as it hit the water, the ropes wrapping around my ankles as I too crashed in the raging river

The ropes dragging me with them, the water murky and littered with pieces of wood and rope, I felt my head hit something, then everything going black

I didn't expect to wake up, but I saw a soft golden glow as I coughed up water, my vision blurry, pain all over

"Shh you'll be okay" I heard the person say gently, I didn't know if I could trust him...but then I heard Dark

"Super, what-" I didn't hear the rest, because I had blacked out again

When I woke up this time, I was in a room, the walls were made out of wood? Or is it stone? I sat up and whimpered in pain

I noticed that I was on a bed, covered by a tattered blanket, I took the blanket off and saw a bandage around my waist and around my ankles...

" your awake " I jumped at the sudden voice, I immediately looked towards whoever said it and saw a white polar bear

He came towards me and I lowered my ears, Mum said to never trust strangers, but I couldn't trust anyone...only Dark

" what happened? I found you freezing to death by the river" the polar bear asked with concern and displeasure

I looked at him, he scares me, but it dawned on me that...my parents were gone, along with my uncle...I felt tears falling, from grief and physical and emotional pain I'm alone...

'Your never alone, trust me, I'm always with you' Dark whispered to me, I felt his presence, but I couldn't see him

" I won't hurt you...if that's what your afraid of " the polar bear sighed as he sat on the end of the bed, I didn't believe him

I didn't answer his as I wiped my tears away, but more replaced them

"...can you at least tell me your name?" He asked

" only if you tell me yours first..." I said hesitantly, my voice hurt, and I felt like I was gonna be sick

" Bark the Polar Bear " he said, I tilted my head slightly confused, who would name someone that?

" see it's a silly name " Bark stated

" my names..." I didn't trust him

" Sonic the hedgehog " I said quietly
