"Why did you pull it out?"

"Oh, so you think you're smart, do you?" Commander Shade sneered in the purposefully dim lighting.

"Yes, yes I do." The villain Hitspectre replied, beginning to circle Commander Shade, trying to find a good angle to strike from. He didn't bother trying to hide the knife in his hands as he twirled the blade between his fingers. They were too far into this fight, screw the element of surprise to hell. Besides that, he had a score to settle with Shade, and he was glad he knew it.

"So you plan to kill me?" Shade asked with a small smirk. Hitspectre almost replied yes, yes he would, but he didn't. Death didn't fit his agenda, and he hated the thought of things ending. Why kill someone in two minutes when you could pull up a chair and watch them bleed slowly for hours?

"I plan on making you pay for what you did to me. Maybe I'll let you die, I haven't decided yet."

Commander Shade laughed, never taking his eyes off of Hitspectre. "You're still hung up over that? That little stint in jail? You were locked up for maybe three days at best before you escaped."

Hitspectre stopped his predatory circling, his nose twitching with indignation. "It was nearly 8 months!"

"Only because you needed time to formulate a plan!"

"How dare you, I had a plan before I even saw your stupid prison, your security measures couldn't keep a dog inside a sausage factory! I stuck around for the free healthcare, and only until I could decide what to do with you once I got out."

Shade scoffed like he didn't believe him and was about to say something when a sharp pain went shooting through his bicep. He looked only to find a small knife stuck in his arm.

"You threw a knife at me!" He all but shrieked.

"I did."

"How dare you," He proclaimed, gesturing wildly to the small blade stuck in his arm. "I'm bleeding!"

"You wouldn't shut up." He shrugged.

"You absolute idiot!" He screamed.

"You still won't shut up, I might have to throw another," Hitspectre replied, reaching for the knives he kept in his belt.

"You could have killed me!"

That time Hitspectre laughed. "What? Killed you? You think I meant to kill you? With a three inch blade to the arm? I'm Hitspectre, I have the aim of a thousand snipers and the arm of a lifelong archer. If I wanted to kill you, I would have."

"Oh, you just love going through that little spiel any time you can, don't you?" Commander Shade grimaced, yanking the knife from his arm. Blood immediately began to drip down to his elbow.

"What did you do?" Hitspectre frowned, for the first time all evening removing both hands from his weapons.

"I pulled it out," Shade replied, realizing his mistake as he said it.

"You idiot, you absolute idiot!" Hitspectre shook his head, heading towards his enemy.

"I didn't think of it!"

"Of course you didn't," Hitspectre replied, shoving him under the dimmed tube lights so he could get a good look at the wound.

"I couldn't think, with you going on and on about yourself like that!" The embarrassed Commander defended himself.

"Stop screaming in my ear!" Hitspectre hissed, roughly grabbing the arm and pulling it close to his face. "Bring up the lights, I can hardly see a thing."

Commander Shade looked up and focused on the tube lights, using his powers to turn up the brightness. He hissed in pain as a stinging liquid poured over his arm, washing the blood away.

"Sorry," The man holding the bottle responded to the noise, his voice void of any emotion whatsoever, but at least the singular word was caring.

The two sat in silence while Hitspectre pulled off his shirt and used it as a bandage for the arm. Once he was done Shade rolled his eyes.

"Any excuse to take off your shirt, I see."

Hitspectre nearly stuck his tongue out at the man. "I wouldn't have to if you hadn't pulled the knife out, you knew it was stopping the flow of blood."

"I wouldn't have pulled it out if you hadn't stabbed me with it in the first place!"

"Well, I wouldn't have stabbed you if you weren't being so annoying!"

"I'm telling Mother!" Shade finally countered. Hitspectre gasped.

"You wouldn't, you know our work makes her nervous!"

"Apologize and I won't." Shade grinned smugly.

"I did apologize!"

"No, you didn't!"

"Yes, I did!"

"No, you did not! I would remember if you had."

"Well, I thought about it, really loudly."

"Then say it."

"I'm sorry, you dick. You'd better not tell Mom."

"I won't," Commander Shade smiled, snapping out lights as he left the room, leaving Hitspectre completely in the dark. "I'll see you at Thanksgiving, brother!"

This chapter is dedicated to @TwylaGrimm thanks to her suggestion that there should be an argument between the hero and the villain. I already had a pair of opposing half-brothers, so I figured, why not? Someday I'll add in Thanksgiving. Thanks, @TwylaGrimm!
