Piya gasped in complete shock as the student turned back to her. There was complete silence,as if even the atmosphere had detected something subnormal. For there before her stood the unknown handsome man she had been dreaming about, almost daily, since childhood. The sleek black hair was elegantly combed and he was matchingly dressed in a formal black suit and trousers, with a red tie. Piyali faced no difficulty in recogniizing him,as those eyes were something she was familiar with, more than her own face. His fair complexion highlighted his chiselled nose and beautiful black eyes. "Hi,I'm Abhay Raichand,1st Year,BA English Hons",said the student, with a small smile. Then he clicked his fingers in front of the enraptured Piya. Pointing towards the bathroom door he said, impeccably formally."I have opened the jammed bathroom door. You may go inside." Piya jerked out of her trance and blushed on realizing she had been ogling him. She looked at Abhay and saw his finger pointed towards the bathroom door and found the door unlocked. As she turned back to thank him she found herself staring at the empty passageway. There was nobody there, except her.

The orientation programme was short and brief, with the Principal of the college,Mr. Sushil Saxena, informing them of the rules and regulations of the college and of the college hostel. He then proceeded to tell them of the various clubs, viz, photography club, robotics club, dramatics club, art and craft club, sports club, etc.,that were present in the college that the students could join and take classes in,free of cost, before and after the college hours. He gave them the college helpline numbers to call up,in case any student faced ragging, bullying,or any form of harassment. Every Saturday was reserved for doubt clarification of topics in the college curriculum, for all the departments.

Piya was amazed to know the sheer volume of courses taught in the college. Starting from humanities courses to engg courses,Mount college had degree, diploma and certificate courses in almost all the major fields of science, commerce and humanities. The orientation programme concluded with the college anthem, whose lyrics were displayed on a projector screen for the knowledge of the freshers, followed by a sumptuous lunch that Piya found extremely delicious.

A few minutes later,Piya walked back to the girls' hostel's dormitory ,alone. Overjoyed to find some old school friends of her who had taken admission in Mount College,Maya, her roommate had gone off to chat with them. Thoughts of the orientation programme gradually gave way to thoughts of Abhay Raichand. He looked exactly the same today as he did,in Piya's dreams. Only his dress had changed. As Piya unlocked her room's door and sat beside the huge glass window which overlooked the setting Sun,she felt curious, why had the student gone away,so fast? She had just turned to look at the bathroom door and didn't find him,on turning back. How could he just disappear in a few seconds? Or was it her own eyes that deceived her? Maybe it was just a figment of her wild imagination, wasn't it? By the way,had Abhay too  been dreaming about Piya since childhood, just as she was? What was there in his eyes that thrilled her and addicted her,to think about them, again and again? Was she becoming insane,as she felt instantaneously  attracted,to be honest, to a student she barely knew?......

There were so many questions that the beautiful Piya had,in her mind,to which she didn't have any answer.

The golden hues of the setting Sun coloured the sky,and innumerable birds called out to each other, flying towards their nests and the cool hair ruffled Piya's silky curls. Piya said to herself,"So strange it is,to be interwined with an unknown man since childhood, solely through my dreams. No other person I know,or have read about, has had such a strange experience. What's it then, that differentiates me,so starkly, from the rest of this vast world?", as a cicada persistently cried from afar.
