I'm Sorry

Silence fill the room when everyone is out there doing their part, leaving The Captain and The Badass alone. At least that's what they call them.

"I'm sorry." Rip's eyes immediately went to the sitting Ella beside him.

"What?"

"I'm sorry, Rip. I was thinking about how reckless I was being. This is important to you this is about your wife and child. I can't believe how ignorant I am. This must be hard for you."

"Can you repeat all that? Gideon, record."

"Shut up!" She said hitting his arm playfully.

"Ow! You just said sorry and now you're hitting me?"

"I was being sincere you arse."

"Alright, alright, sorry." They now sit in a comfortable silence.

"Thank you. You're the only one that I can talk to or understand me at all."

"Like I said, we're alike in some way."

"Yeah, our Brits sarcasm is definitely there." He smiled and she can't help but stare at her captain.

"Let's get to know each other." He arches his brow. "You know since we're teammates and all. In my head you're a very annoying person and I know you're not."

"I don't know if I should be angry or flattered." He answers after a slight pause.

She sighs and rolls her eyes. "Just tell me about you."

"Okay." He said unsure. "My name is Rip Hunter and I'm a former Time Master-"



"What?"

"I know that already, dummy. I mean like hobby or something. You know what I'll start. I like to read. I'm easily bored that's why went out for a drink in our first mission."

"So you shouldn't be left alone with nothing to do or the waverider will be destroyed. Duly noted."

"I want to punch you but it's true. What about you, Rip?"

"Me?" He racks his brain for an answer because no one ever really asked him about those kind of things.

"I also like to read. You're welcome by the way to borrow my books. If you like."

"Really?" Her eyes light up and her smiles widen. "Not gonna lie I was tempted to steal them." A comfortable silence hung in the air.

"Can I ask you something?" Rip asked breaking the silence.

"Yeah?"

"You said that you lost someone? Do you mind telling me what happened?"

"He was my partner. One of the experimented people. He was kind and we fell in love."



"But I guess the universe doesn't want us to be together. When we want to destroy the facility that creates us, he needs to sacrifice himself so I get more time and finally destroyed that cruel place."

"Well, I'm sure he's protecting you from above. Besides we have a time machine, if you want to go back in time and see him from afar I could arrange something." He smiles in attempt to cheer her up.



She smiles in return getting lost in his smile.

"A smile looks good on you, Captain."

He stares at her eyes. He wonder how he missed her beautiful ones.

But this whole mission is to rescue his wife and child. This feels wrong, to him. He so desperately wants to be near her but something tells him that it's wrong.
