Over the course of a decade, Stacy has dedicated her life to two things. Animals and taking care of others. Now she couldn't make potions as well as other doctors or cure illnesses. But she did learn what she can help cure from working with animals. And that's broken hearts.

Stacy was never a big romantic herself she was only in a couple of relationships in her lifetime. But from studying animals she got the gist of what she needed to do. And so Stacy the Romance Doctor came to be.

And over the years of working, she gained an assistant... a human assistant. As much as she loved her animal companions, she needed a human to assist her in her work. And the man she chose was Stampy.

Stampy isn't a very complicated fellow, he has his priorities and can do what he's told. He's only been working with Stacy for three years but he feels at home in that little hut in the Mesa. It surprised him at first to see how many people would travel across the land just for advice about romance. Though to be fair his longest lasting relationship was three hours... and it was with a cake.

Whenever he wasn't taking care of an animal, Stampy was escorting angry or sad people out of the hut. Not everyone likes to hear that their relationship is most likely not going to make it or they don't have a chance with a person.

But Stampy could always tell that Stacy was a little bit lonely. She constantly surrounded herself with work, animals, and hopeless romantics that he rarely would see the woman by herself or doing anything she personally liked. Now after three years, Stampy can admit he knows Stacy quite well, but he always had the feeling he was doing something wrong.

At times she would give him a strange look or a quick smirk. He never understood what it meant though, after all, he was only an assistant, not the doctor. But one day everything would change, forever.

It was almost closing time and Stampy was taking inventory in the storage room. Stacy was just about to lock up when she heard a knock on the front door. I guess I have time for one last person today... she reluctantly though.

As she opened the door she was grabbed into a hug and it took her a moment to recognize who wore a blue outfit and had pink hair. "Lizzie?" She asked.

The woman pulled out of the hug, it was Lizzie! "Stacy!" She said cheerfully, "it's been so long!"

"It has! But why are you here? How did you find me?" Stacy asked, moving out of the way to let Lizzie inside.

"I heard about a Romance Doctor in a city I was visiting and decided to check it out! But I wasn't expecting you!" She explained.

"Well no one ever expects me but here we are," Stacy said sarcastically. "Do you have a romance issue? Or did you just want to come to visit me?"

"I just wanted to visit, we haven't talked face to face in years!"

While Lizzie only planned to spend five minutes in the hut she ended up staying for over two hours, not that either of the women minded. But their conversation started to change when Stampy brought out tea thinking it was just the final client of the day. He rarely listened in on the conversations that went on because they weren't his business... maybe he should have listened to this one.

"Who was that?" Lizzie asked.

"Him? That's just Stampy." Stacy said then carefully took a sip of her tea.

Lizzie gave her friend a smug look, "Are you sure you don't mean boyfriend? Or at least a crush perhaps?"

Stacy almost spilled her tea in surprise with what Lizzie just said. And how accurate she was. "How did you know?"

"You have that look in your eyes. It's the look of longing. He walked in, you two made eye contact, he left, and you did that depressed sigh thing but the air came out of your nose. I've seen it happen a lot." Lizzie explained giggling slightly. "besides he was kinda cute."

Unknowingly Stacy sat up a little straighter like she was about to pounce or she was getting defensive. She didn't even realize it, but it was the quick movement Lizzie was looking for. "And that only proves my point," Lizzie started, "you got defensive when I said he was cute. You might be the Romance Doctor here Stacy, but I think even the doctor needs to become the patient sometimes. So you like this guy right? Why am I getting the feeling you're upset about it? Is he already taken?"

With a reluctant sigh the Romance Doctor leaned back into her chair a little, reluctantly sighed, and decided to tell Lizzie what was going on. "No, he's single. He said his longest relationship he ever had was with a cake. A cake Lizzie. I don't want to just tell him because he's really hard to read like other people. I can't tell if he replicates my feelings or not and he doesn't respond to my flirting which you already know is terrible and obvious. I keep telling myself the things I would tell my patients but nothing seems to work with Stampy."

Lizzie nodded thoughtfully. "Ah, so he's one of the innocent ones. Yeah, they are really hard to understand if their feelings or actions are completely obvious. Here, I tell this to anyone with this sort of problem and it always works. If it doesn't work then he's a lost cause. Now lean over because I don't want him to hear."

The two leaned across the small circle table and Lizzie whispered out the plan. It was brilliant.

~~~
About an hour after Lizzie left 10 pm was just about rolling around when Stacy decided to take the plan into action. She caught Stampy in the meeting room (aka the Romance Issues room) trying to get to the staircase to go upstairs. "Stampy, can I talk to you for a moment?" She said.
Stampy stopped in his tracks and turned around to face her, he had to look down slightly due to hight difference but he still smiled none the less. "Yes? Anything you need help with?"
"Try to follow along. So, let's say there's this guy and I've been giving them the most obvious hints I have a crush on them for over a year now. I get no response."
"That guy sounds stupid."
"No they aren't stupid, they're really smart actually. Just dense." She says. If he doesn't know this is about him by the end of this conversation I'm giving up my title of Romance Doctor.
Stampy thought for a moment, rubbing his chin with his index finger and thumb. "Maybe be more obvious? Like, say, 'Hey! I love you!' or something like that?"
"Alright, I guess you're right on that one. Hey, Stampy." She briefly paused. "I love you."
Stampy gave her a friendly smile and a little clap. "Excellent! Just like that! If that flies over his head then, sorry Stacy, he's just too dumb for you. Gee, now I hope I don't get replaced! Goodnight Stacy!"
Without even saying goodnight back Stacy ran up the stairs and locked herself in her room. I give up. There's no point in even trying to tell him anymore. I quit. No more Romance Doctor for me. I'm done. I'll just stay in here until my upset stomach goes away. Which might be forever... I guess I'm staying in here forever then, Stacy violently thought. She flopped on her bed and heard Stampy walk up the stair and go towards his room, along with the sound of paws. Stampy why do you have to be such a dense loveable idiot?
