Finally it's lunch time, l've already written a letter to the principal, what left is to deliver it to him so I'm going to right... Now.
I knocked on his door.
"come in" he said.
"good morning Mister Browne" I said stepping into his office."principal Browne to you Lucinda" he said as he looked up from his paper work "what do you want?"
"l have a letter here for you" i said as I dropped it on his table "I'll just..." I added backing up towards the door to leave.
"halt!" I froze "what's in the letter" he asked. I blinked.
"huh?"
"what's in the letter," he said "I don't have time to read it so tell me".
"uh... Well, I was thinking we could form a basketball team" I said.
"but, the school already has one"
"yeah, I meant for girls" it was his turn to blink.
Then he laughed and said "you, want to form a basketball team," I nodded "for girls?".
"yes, sir" I replied.
"I'm sorry, you can't"
Say what now?
"um... Why?" I asked
"well, the school doesn't have enough money to do that," he said taking off his glasses and setting it down on the table "and besides the girls in this school are not as enthusiastic as you when it comes to basketball, all they want to do is wear short skirts, swinging pompoms side to side, yelling 'go team, go'".
He was right.
"so I can't follow my dream?"
"you can join the boys basketball team" he said scribbling something on a piece of paper before handing it over to me. "give this to Coach Michael".
"OK, thank you, sir" with that I walked out of the office.
Darci was at the door typing on her phone, when she heard me come out, she looked up.
"did you do it, do we have to form a basketball team?" she asked grinning like an idiot.
"No" I dead planted and her grin turned to a frown."but, he said i could join the boys team" I motioned to the paper I was holding "he gave me this to give the coach".
"But I still don't know how I'm gonna play with guy..." I sighed.
"uh... You mean cute guys" she said dreamingly "Every girl would envy you".
"I just hope I can cope" I didn't sighed again and ran my hand through my hair "I better get going to the locker room"
"okay then, see you later" she waved, walking off towards the other direction.
I made my way down the hall to the locker room where I stood for five minutes without opening the door.
"Okay Cindy, you can do this" I said giving my self a little pep talk then I took a deep breath.
"here goes nothing" with that I pushed the door open and walked in.
