“So, Rin? Would you like to explain your behavior out there?” Dad asked me skeptically.

I frowned. My eggs were finished ages ago and yet I was still hungry. I asked Mom to make me something to eat after my oh-so-enlightening conversation with Roy. But now, Dad was keeping me from my treasurable dinner. I swear people nowadays have no respect for food at all.

“Rin?”

“What?” I asked, irritated.

“What is wrong with you Rin? Can’t you talk to me without that attitude? Why are you arguing with Roy? Can’t you see that he’s trying to adjust here? Are you so fucking blind that—“

“Oooh..Look who’s swearing!” I interrupted him.

He gritted his teeth to keep himself from exploding with anger. “Catherine Harper, if you don’t shut up I’ll—“

“Eww..Dad, what’s with that name? Stop calling me that!”

“Catherine!” He shouted, banging his fist on the table.

Oh Shit!

Anger and Dad never mixed well. I’m a dead meat today.

“Sorry!” I said, immediately.

“This is important, okay? This is too important for me. Don’t ruin this because of your stupidity! If I see you arguing with any of them or even trying to harm them in any way, you’re not going to like what I’ll do. So, watch it!” Dad said, warningly.

I sighed.

“Fine.” I muttered, looking down.

Dad was quiet. The silence in the room was chilling. My father and I rarely fought but when we did, it was never pretty. I didn’t want to fight with Dad. I trusted Dad a lot. Actually, he was the only person I shared my feelings with aside from Evan. I didn’t want any walls between us.

I guess Dad didn’t either. So, he said:

“I’m so sorry, Rin.”

I knew that he was not only apologizing for shouting at me, so I nodded. “It’s alright.”

“Do you know what I do for living?” He asked after some moments of silence.

“Let me guess, you are a Mafia Boss who helps people—like the Godfather—and is keeping his family hidden, so that they remain safe even if you die. You have a huge bank account which we are not yet informed about..And the five morons that you are brought, somehow found out that you’d a huge family with a wife and six kids. You knew that they knew and you are going to kick their asses when they live here?” I asked, solemnly.

Dad laughed out aloud. And said, “Close!”

I smiled. “Really?”

“No.” He said.

My smile disappeared.

“Bastard..” I muttered.

Unfortunately, he heard it. Oops.

“What’s with that language? I’m your freaking father. Not your buddy, for God’s sake. Have some respect!”

“My father? You’re a freaking ass to me and you say that you’re my father? Besides, I excel in everything better than you. A father is supposed to be more intelligent than his kid. Not worse. So, to put it simply, I’m your senior in almost everything. Have some respect.” I quoted him.

“Do you wanna hear the story or not?” He asked.

“Of course I do. That’s the whole fuckin’ reason why I’m risking all my food to the aliens and standing here with you.” I replied, raising my hands in frustration.
