“Okay. So, I don’t wanna say this, but, this is really, really fucking awkward.” Danny said, taking a bite of his sandwich. We were currently seated in the same dining table that Luke had left us in.

Danny must not have realized it, but he’d broken the pin-drop silence of more than fifteen minutes as we stayed seated around in the dining table. The only sound I could hear some few seconds ago was the occasional noise of one of us chewing our breakfast—well, breakfast for me since I just woke up—or the unusual throat clearing of Danny.

“Yeah. It is.” I said, completely agreeing with him.  I even bothered to nod my head to what he said.

“So…” Danny turned to look at me. “Rin, huh?” He asked in amusement, a stupid smirk playing on his lips.

“Yeah.” I replied. “That’s my name. If you dare to make fun of it, I’m going to lock you in the bathroom.” I took a huge bite of my bagel.

“Huh.” He said. “Are you going to lock me inside alone?”

“Well,.. duh?” I raised an eyebrow.

“You know, you can join if you’d like. I’m pretty sure that you’re not that ba—“

“And dare to make another sex joke with me again and I swear Danny-boy, I’ll fucking castrate your balls.” I glared at him.

He raised his hands in surrender.

“Just kidding.” He said. “And why the hell are you calling me ‘Danny’?

“’Cause that’s your name?” I asked.

“No. My name’s Daniel.”

“Yeah, so?”

“Call me Daniel.”

“No.”

“Why not?”

“Because.”

“Because…?”

“Because.”

“That’s not even a reason.” He muttered.

“Too bad, isn’t it?” I asked.

Danny stared at me quietly, like he was focusing on something. His expression resembled a person who was trying very hard to solve some sort of math’s problem.

“You know,” he said finally, “You’re really—“

“Would you guys just quit that?” Roy interrupted whatever he was about to say. “I’m trying to eat here and I just can’t focus on eating when you two are bickering like that.”

I turned towards Roy.

“Why would you want to focus when you’re eati—“ I started to ask.

“Jealous, aren’t we?” Danny cut me off. His playful voice disappeared. Instead, it was replaced with a cold, sharp tone—dangerously close to mockery.

I shot him an incredulous look.

What the fuck?

Roy snickered; his pale face looked strangely different with that expression, or lack of expression to be precise. “Why would I be jealous of you.. and just because you’re talking to her?” he asked, copying Danny’s tone. His face still remained the same, provoking.

But this time he spared a glance at me. Mocking and mischievous.

Ouch.

“I don’t know..” Danny replied. “But I can definitely point out a lot of things that you can be jealous of…?” He said it like a question as he stared at Roy.
