Unfolding herself, Grace drags herself back towards the door, her face damp with sweat, tears and fear.

Grabbing onto the golden handle, Grace releases a huge sigh and leans her head against the door, completely drained.

"I don't want to see you." Rasps Grace her eyes shut, waiting for a response from the other side of the door

After a few moments Raymond replies.

"Gracie, I just want to talk. I just want you to understand, that's it."

"Understand what, Raymond?" Grace answers, her voice rising. "That you cheated on me since last year!"

"I..." Raymond says. "I can explain if you'd just please let me in."

"I already told you that I don't want to." Grace answers. "After what you've put me through I at least deserve that much."

A pregnant silence settles over them until its broken by Raymonds voice.

"I miss you." Raymond pleads, his voice muffled by the wooden door. "I miss us."

Letting out a small chuckle, Grace pushes back the stray hair from her face.

"Well, you fucked up."

"I know babe. I know." Raymond answers.

Grace presses her ear against the door as she hears shuffling from the other side of the door.

"If you knew you wouldn't be here, now would you?" Grace asks her voice cacked with hurt and betrayal.

"I had to try and I always will, Grace." Raymond mumbles a hard edge to his voice. "Always."

"You know if it had been only going on for a couple of weeks I might, just maybe, have forgiven you after long time but you proposed to me, Raymond, knowing that you were seeing her. You fucking proposed to me while you were whoring around with Cheryl!"

"Babe..."

"Don't babe me, don't you dare." Grace answers, her chest bubbling with anger. "I'm done with you. Done."

"Grace, please." Raymond begs as the door handle begins to shake violently. "Please."

"I sold your ring." Grace chuckles as tears fall from her eyes in waves. "I sold it on fucking eBay."

"You didn't."

"Oh, I did." Grace answers her voice thick with humour. "Want to guess how much I sold it for?"

"Grace I know you, you didn't."

"Guess!" Grace screams the last shred of sanity and calm left in her breaking. "I want you to guess."

Silence.

"I don't know." Raymond mumbles his voice thick with emotion. "$2000?"

"No." Grace bursts out. " I sold it for twenty."

"$20 000?"

"No." Grace says trying her best not to best out in laughter. "I sold your 3 carat ring for $20 on eBay. I've never seen something sell as quickly as your dirty ring did."

Grace bends over laughing hysterically her hair falling out of its messy bun and gown slipping off her shoulders.

"I sold it for $20." Grace laughs out. "Then I bought a pack of gum with it, I still have change if you want it."

Be strong Grace let him hurt like you did, like you are.

"That was dumb." Raymond stiffly answers.

"Nah, it wasn't worth even a cent more."

Grace leans back against the door, her breath laboured.

"Before I go I want to ask you one thing?" Grace asks, her face stoic. "Why did you do it? Why did you cheat for so long?"

A brief moment of silence passes between the two.

"I don't know." Raymond answers. "I truly don't."

A soft sob racks through Grace's tired body she holds it in enough to say one last thing before shuffling back to her dark bedroom.

"Ha, ha" She mutters sarcastically.
