The Silence of Revenge – Chapter 1 (Fairy Tail Fan-Fiction)
The bar was heavy with the sharp scent of alcohol and the bitter tang of cigar smoke as the young girl, who was only the age of eighteen, sat at the counter, sipping halfheartedly at a mug of cold sake. A black cloak was wrapped around her petite frame, its hood up, hiding her from the shady criminals that lolled around the dank room, their footsteps dull against the dirt flooring and their voices loud as they echoed off the cobblestone walls.
Others would have been terrified to be in such a place, where they gambled with stolen money, and almost every night someone was found murdered outside the entrance lying in a puddle of their own blood, but not her, even though she was small and looked to be as delicate as a child, because she belonged there.
"Huntress!" the bartender—his name was Ren if she recalled correctly—suddenly shouted, gaining her attention. As she looked up, her gaze met with his striking blue-eyes, which she loved, because they reminded her of the ocean where she'd been raised.
"Yes?" she inquired, the usual sternness of her voice cracking as she addressed the older boy.
"There's a rumor that a guild is sending a team after you," he stated, his eyes wide. "Please, promise me you'll be careful."
Swallowing the last bit of her sake, the girl placed her now empty mug down on the counter, before pushing back her stool and standing up. "Don't worry about me, Ren," she stated nonchalantly, slapping down a few Jewels to pay for the drinks that she'd had. "I can handle it. Guilds have sent members after me before and I've always made quick work of them."
Sighing, Ren shook his head at her disapprovingly, his blonde hair swishing and catching the soft glow emitted from the low burning candles, making it look like threads of spun gold. "You're always so calm about everything," he said gently. "I'm just worried because this team is from Fairy Tail. I want you to be careful, Celena—"
"Don't call me by that name," the girl, Celena, said coldly.
Flinching, Ren looked away from her, his gaze fixed on the ground. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to, I'm not use to this...Huntress."
The corners of her lips threatening to turn down into a truly sad frown, breaking her usual façade of emotionlessness, Celena spun around, her cloak flying up around her, before disappearing in a flash of ebony feathers as she used her Transformation Magic to turn into a large crow. Soaring toward the single window to her right, Celena flew out into the darkness of the cold winter night, her feathers glowing iridescently in the hoary light cast by the shimmering orb of the moon.

Pelt the intense white of parchment, Celena, taking the form of a wolf, trudged through the snow, her paws cold and sore as they sunk deep into the icy terrain. Around her, the forest, bare of its leaves and thick foliage, was beginning to take on a golden hue as the sun finally peeked over the horizon, bathing the land in its life-giving grace. However, this caused Celena to grow increasingly anxious, because to someone like her, night was the most preferable cover for travel.
Huffing, she stopped and looked around, her nose high in the air as she scented for any threats. Dancing on the breeze was the overwhelming aroma of peaches, the vague tang of caramel, and the heavy odor of cologne. Eyes widening, she angled her ears toward the source of the scents, and sure enough, in the distance she could hear footsteps quickly approaching, and as they neared, the air seemed to grow thick with magical energy. Mages. Could this be the team that had been sent after her?
