Lee leaned a bit closer, lifting the edges of her hair away from her eyes to receive a better view of Double D's encounter with this girl she's yet to know. Various speculations could be produced from this one sight. Lee's kept a pocked-sized notebook with her, jotting down any information she deemed viable in this position she's been put in. She shrugged away without anyone noticing a thing. She quickly made her way into the cafeteria in hopes to see Marie before Marie saw Double D with that sphinx-like redhead.
Lee: "If he's been knocking up some chick all this time, why'd he wanna act like he wanted to be with Marie? Wait, he's the good one outta the bunch, why'd he even do that; would he even do that? Great, now this thing's got me askin' stuff. I'm not cut out for this detective crap; I'd prefer to just beat him up as a lesson, but I know Marie won't like it. Better go find her."
Everyone was hastily entering the cafeteria, whether to sit and converse, or to get in the lengthening line to purchase their meals as their hunger would just continue to grow with each movement of the lunch line. Double D and Estelle made their way in and joined the line without halting any part of their riveting conversation surrounding biology and the possibilities within Science's limits. Marie sat at the end of the lunch room, awaiting her sisters. She slumps even further into her chair with the sight of Double D with this girl she hadn't seen before. Many thoughts circled her mind; mainly, she just wanted to punch this girl. Those tendencies rose more and more right before Lee finally got to her. However, Marie suppressed her displeasure, only keeping her blank expression which led Lee to think she didn't know yet.
Lee sat in the chair opposite Marie and begun to tell her what she saw, but Marie simply pointed a finger to the other side of the cafeteria; Lee ceased her story from continuing, it wasn't needed.
"How long were they lip-locking for? Took her a while to bring him here." Marie said with a slight irritation.
"They weren't. I only saw them talking. No hugs. No nothin'."
"So, this is why Double D left me, huh. This bitch."
"Hey, cool it, alright. I thought they were together too, but hear this, ain't he supposed to be the good Ed outta the group?" Marie took a second to nod at Lee's question, "Then why'd he wanna hurt you? I mean, didn't you say that you guys almost kissed the other day? I'm sure he'd not do that if he was with some other chick, unless those chemicals messed up his brain or somethin'."
Lee: "I better be right."
"Lee, I'm glad you didn't go over and talked to him. Now, I know why." Marie proceeded to get up from her chair, fists clenched to her side. Lee stood and held her, preventing anything to go forward. Lines of 'You're better than this' and 'You're not like that any more' replayed in her mind once Lee mentioned it to her. Marie lessened her force as she fell back onto the chair, looking at Lee for what's next.
"Give me till the end of this week to find out what I can. I'll take some notes of what I see and hear from 'em. Heck, I'll follow the girl, maybe even talk to her and find out her deal. Don't do anything stupid until the end of the week, alright? Whatever I find out, it's your call what to do." Lee sat back down while Marie looked to the floor and nodded. Marie's gaze rotated around the room a bit until she stopped to speak, "Where's May?" Lee shrugged as she briefly took a glance around the cafeteria.
Ed stood just a few feet away from the blonde girl he admired during class. He took a few seconds to think of his approach and gingerly approached her before stopping. Ed looked over the girl's shoulder to see a copy of the comic 'Zeemien's Force'; that was the comic he was currently reading. There were fifty-six issues, and he reached number fifty-one, which happened to be the one this blonde girl had. Ed did take a moment to silently applaud this as he found his topic to start off with.
