Chapter 11: A Heartfelt Homecoming

     Now close to the middle of October, the Eds came rushing into their school, cheering amongst themselves about the success of their latest scheme, 'Ed's Ultimo Fast Breakfast Cereal Mix!'. Double D chimed in with mention to the bright idea of doing this during a morning before school.

     "Now that's the only good reason to get up extra early! Half off for another bowl, genius! We made a ton of cash, boys, and I see some jawbreakers in our future!" Eddy exclaimed, holding both of the other two Eds' heads.

     "I was impressed that you both got ready the hour early like I requested. We had everything set up before anyone could even consider their breakfast meals!" Double D said.

     "I told you guys that mixing cereals can make it better! Chunky Puffs, Charms of Luck and Chair-ios!" Ed excitedly said as his eyes glistened.

     "You really came through for us, Ed! We got enough to last us a while. Man, I don't even got a problem with Math today! Ha! Get it? Problem, math? Ha!" Eddy guffawed as Ed laughed along, and Double D provided a grin. Eddy took notice of Marie as he stopped laughing. She turned over to their direction as Ed and Eddy nudged on Double D's shoulders, leaving him alone with Marie to which he sent an agreeing nod to his friends' way. 

     After this, Ed sees May by her locker and turns to Eddy, "I really want to show her that I got the special release Issue #57 of Zeemien's Force! I was thinking of reading this with her at lunch."

     "Whatcha waitin' around for? Let her know it, Monobrow!" Eddy smiled as he watched Ed run to May.

     Eddy walked to a section of the school, looked around and said, "This beats..." Just then, a soft whistling was heard. Eddy looked around only to find Lee raising a part of her hair for him to see her winking. He scoffed and asked what she wanted in an irritated tone.

     She responded in her usual tone and manner as she got closer to Eddy, "Just wanted to talk to my little man. Gotta love such a little guy having a big mouth!"

     "Can it, Kanker! Blame my genes." Eddy retorted.

     Lee paused for a moment, "Your jeans look great! But hey! You seem kinda lonely, so I thought I'd keep you company." Eddy groaned before Lee continued, "How about you and I hangout a bit, huh? You'll have your girl with ya." 

     "You ain't my girl, Lee! Don't think you ever will be!" Eddy angrily said in a hushed tone.

     "Aww, why not?"

     "Why don't you go bother your other men?"

     Lee took a moment before continuing, "And why'd you think I'm still going after you? All those morons from New Holden couldn't hold a candle to my man," She laughed as she looked at Eddy, "They sickened me within a few days. Kinda glad to be back here. Plus, got the only man for me, huh, Eddy?" She smiled as Eddy sighed.

     "Psh, I get it, but I gotta let you know that there are many chicks just wanting a piece of this. I don't even know if you can compete!" Eddy said as he confidently patted his chest. 

     "Then why'd you say, 'This beats', just before I started whistlin'?"

     "'Cause... erm... none of 'em are here yet! You know, trying to look extra special for yours truly." Eddy rubbed his chest as he started walking the other way.

     "When you're done playing with the girls in your magazines, don't feel shy in checking up on me." Lee gave Eddy a wink before she begun walking the opposite direction. Eddy looked on for a moment as Lee was leaving the area, then he turned around and continued on his way.
