After school, Sofia and Hugo were a little upset that their ballet was going to be cancelled.
"I can't believe our ballet is going to be cancelled all because of my stepsister," Sofia groaned.
"I know, and it was supposed to be our first ice-dancing ballet at the Corinthian Sports School," Hugo sighed. "My mom and brother were really looking forward to it."
"I bet Amber wouldn't even care if the ballet is cancelled because she'd think it's a great way to have me to herself," Sofia declared.
"Well, I'll come by to see you later, Sofie," Hugo waved.
"Thanks," Sofia smiled.
"How was your day, Sofia?" James asked.
"Fine," Sofia sighed.
"So how's the ballet coming along?" Amber asked.
But Sofia just glared at her sister and stuck her nose up at her. Amber was surprised that Sofia was treating her like that—she hasn't seen Sofia this angry since the time she, Hildegard, and Clio ruined Sofia's first attempt at starting her relationship with Hugo.
When the young royals made it home, Sofia quickly jumped down from the coach and walked into the castle much to her siblings' shock.
"What's gotten into her?" Amber asked.
"I don't know, but she seems pretty mad at you, Amber—and knowing Sofia, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that you did something to her," James told Amber. "That fight you had on Saturday must've seriously scarred her."
Amber was so shocked that she didn't know what to say.
Later, Hugo came to Enchancia Castle to see Sofia, but the minute he saw Amber, he gave her the skunk eye.
"Hello, Prince Hugo, here to see Sofia?" Amber asked.
"Indeed," Hugo confirmed, still glaring at Amber, who was a little nervous.
"So how's the ballet coming along?" Amber asked.
"Not so good," Hugo huffed.
"Why not?" Amber asked.
"Why not?" Hugo repeated angrily. "Sofia told me what happened on Saturday, and you hurt her feelings so badly that she can't concentrate on her role—and there's nobody else to play her role. If Sofia can't concentrate, we might have to cancel the show—and it's all because of you! You're nothing but a hypocrite, complaining that Sofia doesn't make time for you when you did the same to her before we even graduated from Royal Prep!"
After that, Hugo went off in a huff to find Sofia. Amber was shocked, and she started to think. She couldn't believe Sofia and Hugo's ballet was going to be cancelled because of her, but she started to think about how she acted. It was true that Amber brushed Sofia aside earlier in the year, focusing more on looking good at Ever Realm than spending time with her sister. Amber didn't know why she even thought Sofia would completely ignore her for her school work. She wished there was a way she could make it up to her.
In Sofia's bedroom, Sofia was looking at a book based on the story of The Nutcracker, upset that the ice-dancing ballet at Corinthian Sports would be cancelled.
"I'm sorry, Sofie," Hugo sighed.
"Thanks, Hugo, but if anyone needs to apologize to me, it should be Amber—it's her fault for making me feel bad about doing what I have to do in the first place," Sofia declared.
Amber was standing right beside Sofia's bedroom door, listening—and she knew that Sofia was right. "Sofia?" she called in a timid voice.
Sofia turned and saw Amber by the door. She shot a glare at her sister and asked, "How can I help you?"
"I've been a terrible sister," Amber admitted. "I don't know why I even acted like that. I guess I just miss you, and all this school work has been keeping us both busy, especially now that we're in different schools. It was wrong of me to call you out for being busy on your school work, especially since long ago, I brushed you aside to worry about going to Ever Realm before we even graduated from Royal Prep. I'm sorry."
That really touched Sofia. "Thank you, Amber," she smiled.
"Is there anything I can do to make up for my behavior?" Amber asked.
"We can spend some time together tonight," Sofia grinned.
"Perfect," Amber smiled.
"It's nice to see you make up," Hugo smiled. "Hopefully, this is enough to put Sofia's mind at ease, so she can concentrate on her role."
"I bet your version of The Nutcracker would be even better than the ballet itself," Amber grinned. "I can't wait for opening night!"
The next day, Sofia and Hugo were at their ice-dancing class. Everyone was hoping Sofia would really concentrate on her role this time. Sofia explained her reconciliation with Amber to everyone.
"So now that you've reconciled with your sister, you can concentrate on your role?" Karen guessed.
"We can only hope," Sofia gulped.
"The only way to find out is for Sofia to try to perform her routine," Miss Pamela said.
Sofia got on the ice and started to perform her opening routine—and she did so very beautifully. Everyone was happy that Sofia was able to do her routine.
"Perfect! All you needed to perform your routine was all the pep talk that reaches your ears," Garrick smiled.
The ice-dancers were very busy with their routines, and the whole month went by very quickly.
