moving to Lima, Ohio was hard on everyone in the family. especially mom; she took it the hardest. dad got a new job so we had to all drop everything and move with him. well, we didn't HAVE to, mom decided it was best we'd all stay together as a family instead of some of us staying behind back in Los Angeles. which meant leaving friends that I've had since birth; like Milo. we're super tight; like best friends should be. but, we honestly did and still do everything together. we've known each over since we were toddlers in diapers. we've always been there for each other and now, things are changing drastically and that's scary, to say the least. of course I love Milo; he's like a big brother to me. but, he's changed a lot ever since I told him I was moving. besides mom, he took it hard. and when I mean hard, I mean HARD. he's not much of a crier but he cried. and it honestly broke my heart. his mom was sweet about it though; she's sweet in general though so that's not shocking at all. she offered to let me stay with her and mi but, I had to decline her offer because I'd miss my family far too much if I did that. even if mi and I would be together twenty four seven. I know he's upset and I am too. we've done so much together; from dance classes as kids to singing in musicals in the fourth and fifth grade. it's not like we're giving that up, because we aren't. we'll always have the memories but something just feels different..
two and a half months ago...
mi and I are currently hanging out, playing fortnite, like we usually do. except, I usually watch him play it because I honestly suck at it. but there's so much tension between us that it makes things a bit awkward. I don't know what's going on but, something's on his mind and it's kind of bugging me that he won't tell me what's bothering him.
"mi?" I ask softly but don't get an answer. I sigh softly and shift around on the couch a bit, sitting on my feet then place my hands on his shoulder and smile softly.
"mi." I reply softly. "can we talk for a minute?"
he glances at me, shrugging softly before looking back at the tv. "sure. in a minute."
I sigh softly. "Milo."
he sighs in return and pauses the game then turns his body slightly so he's facing me. "what's on your mind, Meg?" he asks, looking at me with a concerned look on his face. I shrug softly and look down at my hands.
"you know you can tell me anything, Meg. what's wrong?"
I sigh softly and look up at him. "I --"
"Meg." he replies. "you're scaring me."
I sigh once more. "I'm moving, Mi."
"what?"
"my dad -- he got a new job and mom wants all of us to go with him."
he looks at me for a minute, not saying a word. his eyes blink rapidly a couple times before he shakes his head and looks at me.
"you're.. you're moving?" he questions with a frown. "but you love it here."
I nod softly. "I know I do. but it wouldn't be fair if I stayed behind while everyone else went to.. Ohio.."
"O -- Ohio?" he stutters. "you're moving to Ohio?"
I nod but don't say a word. after a couple minutes of us not saying a word to each other, I finally speak up, sighing softly.
"Mi, you know I would stay if I had the choice to."
"but you do have the choice to, Meg." he replies, sighing softly. "why don't you want to stay? besides the fact that you'd be leaving your family behind."
