I whirled around and saw that there was a girl who looked around my age with blonde hair that ended just below her shoulders and big, brown eyes. I was instantly jealous of her flawless skin and was curious as to what she wanted.
With her Louis Vuitton bag and the Chanel sunglasses on top of her head, I could tell that she was rich.
I waited for her to say something, but all she did was study my face and the rest of my body.
Feeling self-conscious, I interrupted the silence by saying, “Umm...hi?”
“Hello.” she replied, but after her short greeting, she went back to being silent.
“Why are you staring at me?” I ask, not able to stand the silence any longer.
“I have a proposition for you.” the girl stated.
“Okay…” I said cautiously.
She looked pleased when I said this. She turned around and walked over to the armchairs.
Very ungracefully, she plopped herself down on one of two and patted the one on her right. "It’s a long story. You’ll want to take a seat.” she explained. I walked slowly over to the armchair next to her and sat down.
“Okay,” she started “my name is Lea Johnson. I’m eighteen years old, born and raised here in England.”
I nodded for her to continue, suspicious of what this stranger wanted.
“As you can tell, I have a lot of money.” she said, gesturing to her outfit. “It’s because my mother and father are both lawyers at a big law firm.”
Confused, I said “Okay...I don’t see the problem here.”
“Let me finish!” she exclaimed.
“Okay, okay!” I muttered
“They want me to become a lawyer like them,” she continued. “so I’m always pressured to excel in school.”
She paused and closed her eyes for a second before opening them again and continuing “I’ve never had much of a social life. I always had to stay in on weeknights to study and do extra work. To my parents, high school was about acing all my exams and taking as many AP courses as possible."
"Now that I’m starting university in a few months, I know that this summer is my last chance to have fun before I get sucked into school.”
Suddenly, the restroom door opened and a middle-aged woman came in and gave us a weird look. Lea and I quickly started pretending to gossip so it would seem like nothing out of the ordinary. We kept talking until the woman finally finished washing her hands and left.
A few seconds after the door closed, I turned back to Lea and demanded, “What does this have to do with me?”
“Well, this is where you come in,” Lea said, “I can tell that you have never had a lot of money.”
At first, I was a bit offended at this, but I knew it was true so I gave a grunt of agreement.
Lea beamed and said words that I would never imagine coming out of her mouth.
“So I was thinking that we could switch places!”
