"Oh god" I say as I stare at the inside of Lea's closet. Here I am trying to figure out what to wear for a date with a guy I don't even know but I'm supposed to have known for eight months. Lovely.
As I'm wondering what one wears to a soccer game, I hear a voice behind me. "Need help?" and I groan when I realize it's Jesse.
"Not from you, no" I say, coldly.
"Woah." laughs Jesse, teasingly, "Someone's in a bad mood." I turn around and narrow my eyes. I stalk towards him and jab my finger into his chest.
"You know what, pal?" I shout, losing control. "I am sick and TIRED of your shit attitude. I'm already regretting agreeing to this so if you are not here to help, please LEAVE."
Jesse just smirks and says, "Feisty...I like it." I take a deep breath to calm down and stop myself from gauging his eyes out painfully with a fork.
Instead, I turn around and walk back to the closet full of designer clothes. Placing my hands on my hips, I ask "Seriously, what am I supposed to wear?"
~~~~~~~~~~
I look myself up and down in the closet mirror and sigh, turning around to face Jesse who was stretched out on Lea's bed."Are you sure that this is what I should be wearing to a soccer game?" I ask, trying my best to ignore the fact that Jesse looks like an Abercombie and Fitch model. I was wearing dark green jeggings and a black varsity jacket over a simple black t-shirt, which I personally thought was way too casual for a soccer game.
"It's called football around here" he corrects, "and don't you trust me?"
"Hmm, let me think about that." I say, pretending to tap my chin thoughtfully. "Hahaha no."
"Well, you should. You guys are just going on a casual date to a football game." Jesse explains, "People like us go to these things all the time."
"People like us?" I ask, raising my eyebrows.
"You know what I mean." he says, getting up to check his hair in the mirror.
"I know exactly what you mean, people that are loaded with money and think they are above everyone else." I snap and with that, I turn on my heel and walk out, leaving Jesse stunned.
~~~~~~~~~~
I sit alone on one of the barstools in the kitchen, fidgeting with the sleeve of my jacket, waiting for the buzzer to sound, letting everyone in the house know that someone has entered through the gates. I stare at the wall, too nervous to be doing something productive. The whole time, I'm thinking to myself why I had even agreed to this or what I should do if this Lucas guy tried to kiss me and the list went on and on.
While I'm deep in thought, the buzzer sounds making me jump and nearly fall off of my chair. I quickly recover, thankful that no one was there to see that happen, and run to the front door. I run a quick hand through my hair, which I tried my best to make nice.
I sat down and put on a pair of Lea's converses, hurrying to do the laces that usually take me forever.
"Why didn't I put these on earlier?" I whisper to myself, harshly. Just as I'm finishing up, Jesse comes down the stairs and when I face him, he opens his mouth to say something but before he can say anything, the doorbell rings.
Saved from any painful conversations, I thrust open the door and come face to face with another Abercombie and Fitch model. Blond hair, hazel eyes and pearly white teeth make me cling to the door as if it was my lifeline.
He smiles at me and says, "Hey"
"Hi" I say, breathlessly.
"Are you ready to go?" Lucas asks, biting his lip and I swear I almost fainted right there and then.
I snap out of my daze and nod my head, turning around to tell Jesse to lock the door, since I didn't have a key. He agrees and once the door closes, I take a deep breath, turn around, and plaster the biggest, fakest smile on my face.
~~~~~~~~~~
We are currently on our way to the game in Lucas's SUV, which I didn't even have time to admire, and I am covered in sweat. I just hope he doesn't notice.
Other than a couple of strange glances sent my way after I've said something weird, Lucas hasn't shown any signs of suspicion, which I guess is a good thing but how could I keep this charade going for the whole day?
All of this is going through my head at top speed while I'm trying to maintain a normal conversation with my boyfriend of eight months.
"Lea?" I hear and I'm brought back to earth, realizing I didn't reply to his question.
"Hm?" I ask hastily, trying to casually cover up my mistake.
Lucas takes his eyes off the road for a second to take a sideways glance at me and says "Lately, you've been spacing out a lot...is everything okay?"
I melt a little bit at his words and think that he is probably one of the sweetest guys I've ever met but I quickly remind myself that he is Lea's boyfriend.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about university and stuff..." I trail off, hoping he wouldn't question me any further and my wish is granted.
Focusing on the road, he nods his head and says "Me too".
The rest of the car ride passes relatively smoothly and we get to the soccer stadium in about twenty minutes. The moment I step out of the car, I can feel the electricity in the air and it immediately hypes me up.
I'm not a huge fan of playing the sport that these people call football but when it comes to watching it, it's a completely different story. I stare up at the huge stadium, bouncing on my heels and shaking out my arms, getting excited. Lucas comes around the car and watches me, bemused.
I stop bouncing and raise my eyebrows at him, "What?"
He just shakes his head and chuckles, grabbing my hand and tugging me through the huge crowd of people, towards the entrance. For the first time today, I think that I can actually do this and have fun at the same time.
Hope you guys liked this chapter! Sorry for the long wait but I'm thinking the length of the chapter kinda makes up for it?? Hmmm...will Lucas kiss "Lea" or will he figure out that Lea's actually Chloe? We'll find out in the next chapter as their date continues!
- Sara (not Sarah)
P.S. The picture is what I imagine as Chloe's (Lea's) outfit
