Where are you Gloria?

Scene 6: Reasuring Words

The next morning, Gloria was taking a walk in the Castle when she bumped into her father,

"Gloria!"

"Oh, hi Father, How are you?"

"I'm doing well, how about you?"

Gloria wanted to say, I'm doing horrible, I miss mother, you want me to get married to someone I don't love and My heart aches for a man that you wouldn't approve of. But all that she said was,

"I'm doing fine"

"What do you think of Knight Victor?" her father asked,

Gloria looked at him,

"I..I think he's shy, and nice and kind"

Her father nodded as understanding what she had said,

"I would like you to marry him Gloria..."

Of course he does Gloria thought to herself.

"...I'm getting older, and with your mother passing, it made something click in my head, I could be next, and I don't want you here alone, I would like you with somebody, that could be a good King, I already know you are going to be an excellent Queen"

"I understand Father..."

Gloria looked into her fathers eyes,

"...I just need time to think..."

Gloria walked away from her father, trying to hold back the tears that had been waiting to come out for a long time.

...a week later...

Gloria tried to think of a way to tell her father about Henry, but she had nothing. She decided to go for a walk, but not around the castle, she decided to go into the town for a change of scenery, always being in the castle can get boring sometimes, so she put on a cloak so no one would recognize her, and told the guards she would be back shortly.

She headed out to the town, there was always some excitement going on, with all dancing and music Gloria's worries suddenly faded away. When a group of musicians and dancers came up to her, she didn't even hesitate to dance along with them. She was having so much fun until she danced right into someone and they both fell down,

"Oh my goodness I'm so sorry!" Gloria said.

The other person got up,

"It's alright"

they held out a hand for her to take, when Gloria looked up, the hood of her cloak fell down, she realized that the person she had just fell on was Henry.

"Henry?!" Gloria said in surprised,

Henry looked at her,

"Gloria?!..." He helped her up "...What are you doing here?"

"I just needed a change in scenery..." Gloria smiled "...but I never expected to see you here!"

"I was out getting some things for Knight Victor and his..."

The two where suddenly interrupted when they heard the chatter of a group of people next to them,

"Is that the princess?"

"I think it is"

The Two looked at each other,

"...come on lets go somewhere more private" Henry finally said.

The two walked to a river around the outskirts of town, they sat up against a tree and talked for hours, they found out that they had a lot in common, and they couldn't stop laughing together. Gloria's heart was finally being put back together when suddenly She felt a hand on her shoulder, she quick turned around to see Felix. Gloria got up,

"Felix...what are you doing here?"

"Your father wanted me to make sure you were okay"

Gloria rolled her eyes,

"Ugh! why is everyone always worried about me!?"

"Because you are the princess, and your father cares about you maybe?..."

Felix grabbed Gloria's hand,

"...and that a princess shouldn't be wondering around with the Knights assistant that she is betrothed to!"

Gloria pulled her hand away from his,

"Excuse me?! I never said yes to marrying Knight Victor! and I was just getting some fresh air, and some change of scenery!"

Felix started to get mad,

"Your father would not approve of this Gloria!..."

He grabbed her hand again,

"...and I think you have had enough change in scenery for today, we are leaving..."

Felix looked at Henry,

"...Good day to you sir" and he dragged Gloria away.

Gloria looked behind her and used her other hand and waved goodbye to Henry, her smile was put back into a frown in a matter of minutes.

Back at the castle Felix had told the King of Gloria's doings. The King got upset with his daughter and tells her she is to go into her room for the rest of the night and think about what she is doing.

"Mother?"

"Gloria!"

"Mother, what are you doing here?"

"You are dreaming sweet heart, no need to be afraid."

Gloria ran over to her mother,

"Don't leave, I'm so mad and upset, and I miss you!"

"I know darling, but I never actually left, I'm here, aren't I?..."

Gloria nodded,

"...I know what has been going on, I know your father is trying to get you to marry Knight Victor..."

Gloria interrupted her mother,

"I don't want to marry him! I love his assistant! and I know that I need to marry a Knight, but its still not fair!"

"...Shh...I know, but I want you to remember this, you can do whatever you want, no matter what your father says...if you want to marry Henry, and you think that he would be a good King to help you rule, you go for it!..."

Gloria's mother put her hands on Gloria's face,

"...do whatever makes you happy."

Gloria started crying,

"Don't go mommy! I love you!"

"And I love you! but I must go now, I will always be with you..."

Before Gloria knew it her mother was gone. She suddenly woke up and sat up in her bed. She knew by now what she must do...so she put on her cloak, and climbed out her window down the vines.
