Adrien's POV
When we arrived, I glanced over at Marinette, whose sky blue irises sucked me in. I came to a stop, and Marinette tumbled forward into my arms.
I loved catching my Princess.
My golden boy mask was left behind in the black holes that were her pupils. I grinned ferally. “You should be more careful, Marinette. Who knows if one day you'll fall for my charms?”An angry pink exploded across her face. “I already ha- I mean, w-w-what? Why do you s-say that?” She giggled oddly.
I blinked and came to. “Oh, sorry Marinette. I lost myself for a moment there… in your eyes.” I couldn't resist adding.
She yelped. “YEAHCOOLNOWLETUSGOGETOURICECREAM!”
Alya's POV
I gave Nino a sly look. He sighed. "Adrien, Als and I are gonna head over to hers, she just got a text from Mama Césaire that they need two cool babysitters to watch over Alya's sisters." I grabbed my soulmate - God, I loved the sound of that - got our ice cream, and dashed.
I vaguely heard Marinette call, "Wait, what?"
Nino asked, "Wait, aren't we going to circle back around and stalk them?"
"Precisely, my dear."
Adrien's POV
I walked up, with Marinette by my side. Andre blinked. “Ah, my dears. I can see you will be one of my favourites. Your soulmates have two sides - I’ll give you a scoop to remind you of the side that will surprise your eyes. What are your names?”
“Marinette.” She answered. My thoughts swirled. Two sides? What could that mean?
I spoke. “Adrien.”
He smiled. “Pretty Marinette, you’re first. Blackberry for the colour in which he dresses, minty eyes that render you a mess, and french vanilla for his wild tresses.” He handed me my scoop. I watched her blink at it, taking the ice cream and licking it. When she saw her words, she quickly tucked her wrist away. My brow knitted, but I didn't have much time to think as Andre had turned to me. “For you, dear young Adrien, bubblegum for the colour she wears, blackberry for her dark hair, and blueberry for her bluebell stare.” A whisper danced through my soul. Fashion Princess.
My eyes dimmed. It definitely wasn't Ladybug. It had to be some other girl. I checked my wrist, which had a small very familiar embroidered pink purse with the words 'Fashion Princess' curling up above it in a near fuschia tone of pink.
The only person who it could possibly be… I looked at Marinette, then the ice cream. Back to my Princess, then the ice cream.
Wait… her ice cream was Chat Noir.
I deliberately licked my ice cream and the magic gently slammed into me, filling me with a reminder… of a wintry night that lived in my mind with roses, gentle candlelight, and my Ladybug.Well, she clearly wasn't my Ladybug anymore. She was some other guy's Ladybug, and he might never know it. Or he might already know that he was linked to the Miraculous Ladybug, and send her off to akuma battles with a kiss and a “Stay safe, Lady of my Heart.” My throat clenched just imagining it.
My Princess tinkled, “Thank you, Andre.”
He grinned. “Come back again soon. Your love shines bright - adieu for tonight.”
Her big blue eyes glanced up at me.
Huh. Her eyes looked a lot like Ladybug's. Dragging me out of my thoughts, she said, “Let’s s-sit.”“So, Marinette, what's your phrase?”
Marinette's POV
“You have to keep this a secret.”
“Of course, Marinette.” He nodded.
I held out my wrist. I whispered, “My words were ‘Trusted Kitty’.” Adrien went pale. “What does that mean?” He asked.
I hushed even further. “My soulmate is Chat Noir.” I indicated the glowing masked eyes.
“H-how are you sure?”
I sighed. “My scoop’s blackberry, mint, and vanilla - blackberry for the colour he wears… Chat Noir only ever wears black. His eyes are minty green, and vanilla for ‘wild tresses’. I can’t think of anyone else in Paris.”
“How are you going to tell him?”
I shrugged. “It's not like I can contact him whenever I fancy. Maybe he already knows. I have to look out for someone who got blueberry and blackberry - maybe another flavour for my usual pink, like cotton candy.”
Adrien's POV
She said, "Well, who do you think your soulmate is?"
Heat rushed to my face. I suddenly heard a little rustle, and glanced over to see Alya. Why was she hiding in the bushes?
With her listening, I couldn't tell Marinette. That would reveal my secret identity. “I know this girl...” I sighed. “She’ll be so disappointed - there’s this guy she has a crush on.”
My Princess smiled sympathetically, and all of a sudden my heart beat a little faster. “I guess we’re in the same boat.”
I looked away from her. She asked, “What does it taste like? Blackberry on mine tastes like puns.”
I answered, “The bubblegum tastes this one night the girl - the girl I love - told me that she didn't...” I struggled to finish the sentence, but found I couldn't do it. I couldn't say it anymore.
Her next words shook like leaves in a gale. “Introduce me sometime soon - I'll tell her just what a catch she missed out on.”
I could only stare back at my soulmate. “Sure.”
Nino dragged Alya out of the bushes. I casually said, "Hey, man."
Then instinctively turned as Marinette yelped and nearly fell out of her seat. Her eyes were wide open and her blush flared, revealing her freckles as I stared down at her. Lifting her up, I gently said, "Be more careful, Marinette."
She smiled awkwardly. "Do w-will, Adrien. I mean, will do!" She saluted, and I laughed.
Alya ruined our moment. "And I thought you'd gotten over Adrien's presence, Marinette."
She smacked her BFF. "ALYA!" She glanced over at me nervously. "Hehe."
I blinked. Wait… did Marinette not like me? That's why she always stuttered? She was trying to get away as fast as possible? I asked, “Why… why do you always stutter around me, Marinette? Do you… do you hate me?”
A sharp gasp was heard. “Dude.” Nino's jaw was slack. “Please don't tell me you think Marinette hates you.”
That is my longest posted chapter to date. I will be continuing this fic - never fear, my dear Bees!
You may thank this update to Zezzu_1_3 , who reminded me there are people who want me to finish this. My oneshot book does portray this chapter in a different fashion, but I found it easier what with the intro to write this in Adrien's POV, which meant a whole lot of editing. That's all for now! Buzzing off,
