Chapter 2
-The Adventure Begins
"That was the sound of an adventure." said Nonna with wonder hiding in her eyes.
"That sounded more like something really big falling from somewhere really high." said Nilk his eyes still nervous and shifty, apparently the fear of the noise still settling into his subconsious.
"No way, that was definitely the sound of something fun to do," said Iccim. "Theres never anything fun to do here, we always just sit around and do boring things, lets go find it." a smile coming onto her a face as she said the words.
"Noooo way, Im gonna sit here and read my book and not die." said Nilk, slow to embrace the new plan of possibly dying somewhere off in the forest or being eaten alive.
"Come on, don't be a book in the mud." said Nonna with a big smile on her face.
Nilk shooting her a quick look that conveyed sadness at the loss of his book yet enjoyment from her joke. "Fine, but if we go, no more throwing my books in the mud, ok?" offered Nilk.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll think about it, if we find something really cool, I will never touch your books." promised Nonna.
"For real?" questioned Nilk with slight disbelief in his eyes.
"She won't and if she does I'll kick her in the butt." said Iccim and as she said that Nonna shot her a glance with slight hurt in her eyes but with a big playful smile. "Can we go now?"
"Ok, fine, but lets get some stuff first, cause if we do see something big, Im not gonna wanna just run and be the bait so you two can ride it." said Nilk.
"Ok, go get your stupid contraption, and me and Iccim will get our handy dandy amazing weapons." teased Nonna.
"My stupid contraption managed to save you from that Man Eating Venis Fly trap" countered Nilk.
"Ok, well, you still missed the first three times." said Nonna, Iccim nodding remembering the moment.
"Those were warning shots, and I kinda wanted to see if it would actually eat you or not." said Nilk smiling with his gray eyes.
"You really almost let that thing eat me?????" said Nonna with an expression conveying mock shock, Iccim and Nilk started to laugh. "Im so hurt, I- I-" Nonna burst out laughing and the three laughed together. Nilk stopped and smiled at his two great friends thinking to himself how lucky to have met the two he is.
"Ok, go get your nice contraption and we'll go get our amazing swords." smiled Nonna.
"Actually," said Iccim, "I just got a new axe, and I made some interesting tweeks to it, I added strings and we can have some music as we walk." Iccim said with a big smile.
"And I can sing," Nilk said.
"No way, you can hit sticks on trees as we pass them, Im gonna sing." said Nonna with a big smile on her face.
"You both can sing, just don't touch my axe." said Iccim.
"Ok, lets go get our stuff and we'll meet at the forest entrance." said Nilk.
"Ok," said Iccim and Nonna in almost perfect unison.
The three friends seperated each going to their homes to retrieve the items they will need to go on their adventure, however once they start they'll come to realize nothing they could have brought could prepare them for what lies ahead.
