Morning came by, the wait was almost unbearable. For the whole night, the chewed bao never left his throat and moreover the boy has yet to come back. Since he's dead, he didn't need sleep. And with something stuck in his throat, he was pretty sure he couldn't do it either.

The immortal waited patiently in his cell, sitting close enough to the enchanted bars so that he could see if the boy came, but still far enough so that it doesn't hurt him. After waiting for what seemed like a lifetime, the boy finally came by with water. However, he didn't bring just a glass. He brought a whole bucket's worth of drinking water.

The boy came with the same grin, but upon closer inspection one could see dark bags under his eyes.

"Hehe... Long wait? Ah! Look at me now! I couldn't sleep thinking about you!"

The immortal didn't even have to ask and the boy already answered. This made the immortal believe that the boy was extremely reckless and a total blabbermouth.

Based on his claim, the immortal could hypothesize on what happened and was content with the answer, but somehow he couldn't help but cringe at the last sentence. He shook his head to dismiss the topic and cocked up his head.

"Arhg."

He opened his mouth nearby the bars. His arms were bound so the boy was definitely the one who has to help him pour water into his mouth. The bars were also too small to fit the large bucket in, so the best thing he could think of was to wait for the boy to splash enough water into his mouth.

Thankfully, the boy quickly understood what he had to do. The immortal suddenly felt happy knowing that the boy was smart enough to know and leaned closer towards the bars; however he did not expect that the kid would just dump the whole innards of the bucket onto him.

"Ah. Maybe I shouldn't have done that." Qiao Fengzi deadpanned.

The immortal didn't even have the will to glare anymore. His whole body was now wet and he was quite sure that he had inhaled water. But the main problem had been solved, so he was content. The remaining food that was stuck in his throat had finally gone down. After being stuck for so long, he could swear that his throat widened a bit because of it. And somehow, his face muscles also seemed to have relaxed a little.

This kid though, even if he was already dead there was no reason to treat him like he'd be fine if you'd do anything!

Quietly, the immortal stood up and retreated to the farthest end of the cell. He really didn't want to be bothered anymore after being troubled by the boy and he simply wished to be dead in peace.

"He~y where's my thanks? I ran out to grab water the first thing in the morning. I even woke up early. That's ten minutes before wakeup call! I could have slept, but I didn't want to leave you crying here. My conscience is just too great..." The boy gloated.

You call ten minutes early? The immortal snorted mentally. He immediately shifted his head away to ignore the boy.

Qiao Fengzi may have claimed of being unable to sleep due to the fierce corpse in front of him, but he was actually speed copying several copies of the sect rules the whole night after being caught lingering around the dungeon. This time he had permission to go to deliver the water he had promised to. Lan Qiren somehow had given the okay after hearing him recount what he did in the dungeon. It even looked as if he was somewhat interested in the 'independent' fierce corpse.

After seeing that the fierce corpse didn't want to 'communicate' and feigned deafness, Qiao Jun decided to withdraw.

"Well, that's all I'm allowed to do... I'll be going now. Oh! And be good. Shijie and Shixiong will come pick you up in a bit. I'll see you later!" The boy smiled and left in glee.
