Chapter 11: Mission

After Ironwood found us with our weapons, in a building that had all of its guards unconscious, he had us escorted into a room to question us. “I'll ask you both, one more time. What were the two of you doing in there with your weapons?” Irondi-, I mean… Ironwood asked us both, which I leaned towards him. “And I'm only going to answer you once more. Ruby saw a woman running across the rooftops and ran after her, which I proceeded to follow Ruby. When we got outside the building there was a guard in a bush, that was unconscious already, so we went inside to stop whoever it was.”

“When we got to the floor you found us on, we found her. She was dressed in a black tight suit and wore a small mask. Aside from that all I can say about her is she launched some fire crystals at us. Ruby swung at her and missed, and then you showed up. Next thing we knew, she was gone.” I stated my answer and leaned back into the chair. Causing him to let out a sigh of frustration and storm out of the room. “Hey, you asked, I simply stated the truth.” I said under my breath while flipping him off.

Timeskip

After what seemed like an hour Ironwood had us released and we headed to our dorms, although I dropped Ruby off at her dorm first. “Oh, one more thing. If you're interested we can have our dance soon, seeing as I didn't get a chance to dance with you.” I whispered to her as we approached her dorm. “Yeah, that sounds like fun. I'll take you up on your offer, how's tomorrow night sound?” She asked with a hint of red on her face, which I tried to ignore. “Sounds great, should I pick you up or will we meet somewhere?” I ask her as we stood outside her dorm.

“Pick me up, besides I'm not sure where we could meet up to dance.” She answered, slightly embarrassed. “Sounds good, in the meantime I'll look for a place for us to go. Goodnight, Ruby.” “Goodnight, Y/N“ With that she entered her own dorm and I made my way down the hall to my dorm. I went inside my dorm to find my two sisters wide awake, while my team were already asleep. “Shouldn't you two be in bed already?” I tease my sisters and catch their attention.

“Same could be said to you, seeing as it's past curfew.” Irina states with a smile on her face. “I was questioned by Ironwood for awhile, after me and Ruby chased some woman into the CCT Tower. It took a while because I was there, and me and the General aren't on friendly terms. Seeing as last time we encountered each other he tried to arrest me, not to mention I broke his leg so I could get away.” I said as I started getting lost in my thoughts. “What happened for you to run from him?” Zoey asked.

“Perhaps I'll tell you both some other time, besides, you both need to head to bed.” I said as I looked at them both. “Fair enough, but I do want to hear about you breaking his leg.” Irina whispered to me. “Alright, goodnight you two.” I said as I walked to my bed and fell asleep for the night.

Timeskip

Today we were to choose our first mission for our time as Hunters and Huntresses. Team RWBY decided on one to the southeast of Vale, while me and my team were to investigate a village that was abandoned not to long ago and located North of Vale. Although a few groups were sent there in the past year, none have returned or made any contract. Which left us with the task of two things, firstly and primarily find out what happened to the groups sent before, and second to search for what has made the area so dangerous as of late. Although this mission was meant for 3rd years, thanks to Coco and her team, Ozpin authorized it. Despite the fact we don't know Coco or her team, I was confident about this and so was my team.

When the Bullhead came to a stop we jumped out and landed in a clearing of the forest. We immediately looked around with our weapons ready, waiting for the Grimm. Seeing as Grimm tend to be attracted to Bullheads, it wouldn't be a surprise if they came for us. I saw movement in the treeline ahead of me and readied my scythes. As soon as the Grimm started rushing for me I flashed a grin as a familiar red flame roared to life around me. I then started running at the Grimm in return and started cutting them down with ease, the ones that got by me were quickly disposed of by Scarlett and Emily.

When the area was clear I turned back as the red flame died off, to see the Bullhead was already gone. Not to mention team CFVY just stood, either confused by what just happened or surprised by how quickly we dealt with the horde of Grimm. “With how many we just killed, we should be clear of the Grimm for awhile.” I said as me and my team walked over to team CFVY. “To get this finished quicker we'll split up in groups of two, I'll head to the north side of the village with Scarlett. Emily, Katrina, you two will take the south side. Coco, I'll leave and your team to decide on things. We regroup in the center of the village, everyone clear?” I said and earned a nod from everyone.

With that we all went our separate ways, while me and Scarlett went around the village to get to the north side Katrina and Emily went straight into the village. “What do you think about team CFVY, so far?” Scarlett asked me as we were moving through the forest. “I haven't seen them fight yet, but they seem like they would have good teamwork, I'm unsure if their teamwork is better or on part with ours. Although, I'm sure we'll see in time.” I stated as we reached the north side of the village.

“Let's go, well check these buildings one at a time. At all costs we need to stick together as we search, and hope we find something.” I said, and earned a nod from Scarlett who was staring at the village. “Don't you think it's odd how quiet it is here?” “That's why I split us up into groups of two instead of splitting up entirely.” I responded as we started walking in the silent village.

Coco POV

After Y/N spilt his team into groups of two and ran off, my team split up. Me and Velvet take the West, while Fox and Yatsuhashi took the East. Me and Velvet had just made it to our side of the village when she spoke up. “What do you think about they way they dealt with the Grimm?” “I think it was sloppy, but they dealt with it well enough. Although, Y/N mostly did the work.” I answered as we walked down the streets of the abandoned village.

“It's odd though, I mean they haven't even been here for a more than a few months. Yet he seems likes he's done this before.” Velvet said, almost as if she read my mind. “I was thinking the same thing actually. Not to mention, Ozpin let his younger sisters start attending as their own separate team. When they are the same age as Ruby, who only got in with a stroke of luck.” I angrily stated as we started searching the first few buildings.

Emily POV

“So, has something happened between you and Y/N?” “No, I just had a hunch the three of you could deal with it, especially with his semblance.” Katrina immediately stated, slightly shocking me. “You don't like how he used it so soon, do you?” I asked, which made her stop in her tracks. “No, I don't. It was careless, anyone of them could become our enemy in the future. Should that happen I'd prefer he kept his semblance under wraps.” She answered and we continued searching for any sign of the previous groups.

Y/N POV, Timeskip

After awhile me and Scarlett made it to the center, waiting for the others. We found nothing on our side, so if they got back and find nothing, we might be leaving empty handed. I'd hate to leave empty handed on our first mission, as Hunters and Huntresses, but we might be doing just that. Although it seems like Ozpin wanted us to come to this one to test us, maybe our ability to work with another team or to fight Grimm. Nevertheless, Ozpin has something planned.

After awhile longer Coco and Velvet showed up, with Emily and Katrina showing up not long after. The only ones left was the two from team CFVY. “What's taking them so long?” Scarlett asked, which Coco answered. “They tend to get into arguments, which sometimes turn into physical fights. That might be what happened.” “Why didn't you separate your team differently then?” I asked, which she looked and me and quickly answered. “Because, I don't trust either of them with Velvet. Between Fox hitting on Velvet, and Yatsuhashi being so careless, I'd rather look after her myself.”

“If I didn't know any better I would've said you were her older sister then.” I stated, which she seemed to contemplate that for a few moments before speaking up again. “I suppose I am then… in a sense.” “Why doesn't Velvet talk much anyways?” I asked Coco, who just looks at Velvet, causing her to blush. “She's extremely shy, not to mention how Cardin and his team bullies her and any other Fanus, she tends to immediately think most people are like that.” Coco answered, which seemed to catch Emily's attention. “Well I can vouch for these three, they treat everyone equally.” Emily states. “However, as long as they aren't trying to kill me.” I add, which Emily nods.
