Summary of previous chapter:

Asano and Isuju kissed, and they finally had closure and accepted each other as friends. On the way home, Kaneki met Isuju and apologised to her, saying that he is sorry for all the shit that he had made her go through.

Isuju stopped outside the door silently, contemplating on whether or not to knock. She still felt the chills on her skin from meeting Kaneki, goosebumps dotted her skin every time she thought of him. When she saw him just now, when he apologised, when he cried, it felt like it was too good to be true.

"Are you or are you not gonna knock?" A male's voice travelled from above. He had the same fiery red hair, the same facial features, but wasn't Karma. He stood on the balcony on the second floor, looking down at her.

"You're Karma's dad, right?" Isuju said.

"Yea, so... Are you coming in? Karma's not at home though," Sasori asked.

"Oh then, never mind, I'll look for him tomorrow-"

"On second thought, come in, I wanna talk to you," Sasori said before disappearing behind the curtains and proceeding downstairs to open the door. Isuju was a little surprised when he said that, but she went in nonetheless.

When Sasori looked at her up close, he said, "you alright?" She wasn't, actually, she cried on the way to the Akabane's.

"I'm fine," she lied before smiling it off, but she accepted the glass of water when it was passed to her and took a sip. They both sat on the brown sofa in the living room.

"I saw you at the snow globe shop the other day if you remember, Karma was there too, after he got back home he told me you were his girlfriend," Sasori started off.

"I always had to be traveling around the world for work, and his mum would follow me, and since Karma wasn't old enough we left him here, we'd offered him a trip now and then to go to Los Angeles or China, but he'd decline, so we'd only meet him whenever we came back for the holidays," Sasori said.

"I just want to say thanks for keeping my son company in the mean time, I haven't been a very good parent you see," Isuju didn't know how to react to that, but she just let out a small smile.

"I'm sorry," Isuju said, the tears stinging the back of her eyes as she thought, "but I haven't been a very good friend to Karma, let alone girlfriend, I haven't put his interests in my heart, I'd be selfish and always do things for myself and others instead of him. I actually came here to apologise."

At the corner of her eye, she saw a foot stifle at the steps.

"I thought you said Karma wasn't home," she looked at the steps while talking to Sasori.

"He isn't," Sasori looked at where she was looking at. A sigh came from that direction and the figure stood up and walked down.

"I am, actually," the familiar red head walked down the steps, like making a grand entrance. Karma said, "I climbed in through the window."

"There's a door," Sasori gestured, but Karma had just waved it off.

"Oyaji, if you're sorry for being a bad parent, just go upstairs for a while could you?" Karma said, and Sasori knew better than to step into his son's affairs. Sasori brought him up by teaching that every action was his responsibility, and if there was a consequence that he should face, he should face it head on. He walked up the steps and ruffled his son's hair at the same time, then his silhouette disappeared in the dark.
