I was a king

My name is Anti. Once I was a Nobel, born to a kind hearted queen and a tyrant of a king. Now I am a rogue, a fighter, and a mage. Why, you ask, did I chose to be those instead of being a Nobel still? Well I shall tell you. Be aware though, it is quite a tale and may take some time to finish. Oh? Time is of no matter to you? Well then sit, drink and I shall tell you my tale.

As I said before I was born to a kind hearted queen, and a tyrant of a king, who treated me like rubbish because I was different. How you ask? Because I was born with a condition that caused me to have two different colored eyes and my hair to be different as well. Yes I realize you cannot see me, so I shall explain. I am pale as is common amongst my people, but my hair grows out green and brown. My eyes are also different. My right is green whilst my left is blue, and they would glow whenever I used my powers, powers my father both feared and coveted. I digress let us return to the main tale.

The kingdom suffered from my father's rule. Cruelty and suffering were all anyone knew, until the day my father passed. On that day I was crowned the new ruler of Desdonia. I swore to make my kingdom a better place to live and to heal the damage caused by my father, and...I was successful for a time, that is until on my 28th birthday.... my kingdom fell.

By the time I was 27 my kingdom had flourished. My people came to me for any of their needs. Be it food, clothing, shelter, medicinal or to settle a dispute with a neighbor. I ruled through peace and kindness never once asking for payment for any services one needed.

I remember the day it all collapsed as though it were only a day ago, although by now it has to have been over fifty years. Oh right I forgot to mention that didn't I? I was not only a Nobel. I am an elf, well half elf. My mother, the queen, was an elf and my father was human. Maybe that is why he was so cruel, I'll never know.

The day came when it would all change yet we never realized until it was too late that danger was near. I had two of my people come to me with a dispute, it was silly and minor, over who would take ownership over a creature they had found. Now mind you I found this to be humorous and had decided to handle this as though talking to children. "If you two are unable to settle this amongst yourselves over the ownership of this 'Sam' then maybe I should take it," I had mearly been joking and had no intentions whatsoever to take the creature as I find no need nor desire to own any creature.

My people must have believed it to be true or realized that I was joking, as they stopped bickering and huddled together to whisper amongst themselves briefly, before turning to me and saying that I should own Sam. As their king I was indeed surprised by the decision they had made but wanting to not upset them accepted him.

Upon the little creature touching my hand I felt a bond form that was so strong I fell to the ground and could not stand without the aid of the two who were infront of me. "My king! Art thou hurt? I apologize we did not know the creature would hurt you! We shall dispose of it immediately!" The young woman had said while the man tried to catch Sam.

"No! Do not harm the creature. He did not harm me, we have bonded and he is now a part of my soul." They stopped in their tracks and were wide eyed as they heard what I had said. It has been a long time since any ruler, in all the kingdoms, has had a creature bond with them. The last time a bonding had happened was when my mother's grandmother had bonded to a demonic cat that died the day my mother passed. I still remember feeling sorrow when she passed as the cat was what had protected me from most of my father's abuse. As long as she was alive he would result to verbal only.

Now I have this tiny creature that could only be described as an eyeball floating around me, making strange sounds, while trying to hide. I could feel the nervous energy emitting from him. Once I was standing again I raised my hands, palms open and up, so that he may rest in them. Once Sam did I realized just how tiny he was. He must still be a fledgling, how did they manage to get him away from his mother?
