"Mike, I called you here to tell you some bad news." Talinda said as she gulped, sitting at her chair behind her desk."Yes?" Mike said in an unusual high pitched voice, full of concern.
"You can't work here anymore. Today's your last day." She informed, trying her best not to cave in and let him work, going against her superior's orders. "I'm sorry, Mike. I wish I could do something for you but, unfortunately, I can't."
"W-why? What did I do? Was it because I couldn't come yesterday? I'll do extra hours, please, just let me try again!" Mike tried desperately, his eyes wide as he thought of every possible wrong thing he could've done.
"It wasn't my choice. My superiors don't want you here anymore and I fear there's nothing else I can do to try to convince them to let you stay." She smiled sympathetically. She liked Mike, he was a good kid and very responsible with his job.
"But why?" He said in a small voice, looking down, his hope slowly fading as the news sunk in.
"Someone sent a picture of... a picture of you and Chester, one of your clients, hugging. You were shirtless and apparently had spent the night with him. I told you that you shouldn't get close to any of the patients. That was why."
"What? But who-" he closed his fist and clenched his fist as realization crossed his mind. "Mark! That son of a bitch!" He shouted angrily.
"Mike, please behave. Today is your last day so please inform the patients that they won't be seeing you again and... I'm sorry about this... I really am. I hope you and Chester are happy together now that you don't need to keep it a secret from us anymore." She smiled sadly, reaching her hand out and placing it over Mike's, squeezing it affectionately.
"Okay. Thanks Talinda. For everything you've done for me." The half Asian got up and nodded respectfully at his boss before exiting the building and going to his motorbike to make his first delivery of the day.
He didn't notice that he was driving faster until he got to Ryan's house way too early. He sighed and shook his head, as anger was still boiling inside of him. He looked back to the young man's building as something suddenly clicked into his mind.
Since Ryan was with Chester at the clinic, surely he hated Mark as much as Chester did... He could talk to him instead of his boyfriend. He didn't want to go on and on about Mark with the blonde man because of how deeply affected he had been when he had last seen Mike's ex.
The half Asian got down from his motorcycle and took off his helmet before he opened the front door of the building, going up the stairs two by two as he finally reached Ryan's door. He knocked rapidly on the door, and a couple of seconds later, the brunette was standing there, frowning.
"Mike? Aren't you early?"
"Can I come in? We need to talk."
Fear suddenly appeared in the eyes of the other man as his eyes widened. "Did something happened to Chester?"
"No... I mean, yes... I mean, please let me come in?"
Ryan nodded before he stepped aside and let Mike in his apartment. A few minutes later, they were sitting at the kitchen table and Mike had told him everything. As he had guessed, Ryan was so angry about what he had just learned that he squeezed his fist and hit the table with it, making it shake under him.
"That fucking son of a bitch, I can't believe he dared to show his fucking face again, I swear-"
"If I had known earlier that my ex was who Chester was so afraid of..."
"How could you go with a scumbag like him?" Ryan asked, surprised.
"I know, I know, I've learned my lesson... And because of him, well, I got fired today."
