Attempts In Vain
As I throw your jacket in the wash machine
I washed away your smell
I stood in the cold to numb myself
And I diminished your touch
I brushed my teeth twice
To rid myself of the taste of your tongue
I bought new headphones, volume extra loud
Until I could no longer hear your laughter
I started at the ceiling in the dark
And hoped your face would fade away
And as I cried my hopefully last tears
I tried to leak your presence from my body
