Shoes pt 1 August 20th 2013

The teacher said,

To replace my shoes

With Langston Hughes's

I don't know if I can write like you

But this is my poem for English 2

I am fifteen, black, born in the South

I've always had a knack for running my mouth

When the last bell rings

I'll hop on the bus

All the things I see

Growing weaker with rust

I could've wrote this on my bed

Or at my desk instead

Maybe soon after I've fed

I'll be able to write the words in my head
