Azura's p.o.v.

I have been trapped in this god forsaken place for three years now.  The scientists had pulled me from my home  and away from my sisters three years ago and conducted numerous experiments on me. I despised the humans for what they had done to me and the pain they had put me through. My tail had turned into legs long ago after being out of water for so long and they were now trying to get me to speak.

"Good morning Azura  how are you feeling today?" One of the scientists asked. I had seen him often and didn't mind being around him because he had yet to harm me and treated me like a person and not a thing to test. I had come to learn his name was Alexander Anderson but he liked to be called Alex for short. 

"Same as usual Alex, can't you do anything to help me? Please, I just want to go home." I answered and he frowned.

"Azura you know I can't do that. As much as I would love to I just can't."

"But why not!? Why do i deserve this? All I want is to go home!" I cried getting up and moving towards him only to fall back down when an electric current shot through my body. I heard the door open and looked up to see one of the other scientist and they smiled at me.

"Hello Subject 049,  how are we feeling today?" She asked smiling at me and I frowned refusing to answer her. She was a thin black woman in her forties with short black hair in curls and dark green eyes. She had been one of the many people here I had come to hate but she was the worst. 

"We've got more tests we would like to try on you today! Won't that be fun!?" She asked excited showing she cared very little for how I felt about these tests. I remained silent and just listened watching her every move for a hint of a slip up as she came closer.

"Now if you behave like a good little subject I'll see about letting you in some water for a few hours after we are done." She said grinning and I sighed and got of following them when the unlocked the collar around my neck. 

We walked down a corridor with doors on each side until we arrived at an all too familiar one and went inside. There were two other doctors there waiting and they were quick to strap me down to a metal table and begin their experiments.  They injected me with many different liquids to see how I would react and most caused burning pain to go through my veins but I refused to scream or make any sound. This went on for a few hours before a siren sounded throughout the building and a voice came over the speakers.

"Attention staff tho is an emergency. We have an escaped patient in the building. Please get to the nearest exit immediately!"  They said before going quiet and the doctors all ran out of the room leaving me strapped to the table. I lay there waiting for someone to come in and find me sighing in annoyance. A few minutes later I heard footsteps in the hallway coming closer to th room and lifted my head to see one of the patients in the doorway looking at me. 

"Need help there kid?" He asked and I nodded

"That would be nice thank you." I said and he nodded and untied me from the table before running out of the room. I shrugged and grabbed a nearby scalpel in case I needed it and ran out. I was finally going to get out of here! As I ran I stopped when the doctor from before stepped in front of me.

"And where do you think you're going 049?" She asked and I kept my mouth shut.

"You are too valuable to this facility to let you just walk out that door. You are staying here." She said pointing a taser at me and I growl before running towards her with the scalpel. The woman shot the taser at me and I managed to dodge it and lodge the scalpel deep in her throat watching as she stumbled back and choked. When she reached for it to pull it out I quickly grabbed it and slid it across her throat making her blood spray all over me before she dropped to the ground dead. 

I smiled and continued my way to the exit and ran through the door jumping as the door opening set off an alarm and I heard heavy footsteps coming my way. Thinking fast, I ran towards the woods hearing multiple footsteps and dogs barking behind me as I ran. I kept running tripping a few times on branches but knew I had to keep running as I still heard the guards on my tail. I eventually came across a small lake in the woods and jumped in swimming deeper and smiling as I felt my legs change back into my tail and took a deep breath as my gills reformed on my neck. I heard the guards running around on the surface and hid deep in the middle of the lake knowing I was too weak at the moment to fight them so I decided to wait them out. 

"She's here and she has to come out eventually if she aants to go back home" one of the men said and I fowned. So they decided to wait me out too huh? I started thinking about what to do until I heard one of the men scream. 

"What the fuck is that thing!?" He screamed as he shot at whatever scared him along with some of the other men unril a sickening snap was heard and the man went silent. I watched from under the water as a tall faceless being wearing a suit tore the men apart as they shot at him.  When they were all dead I watched him seemingly disappear leaving me surprised and grateful. I missed surfaced the water and relaxed taking a deep breath. Its been so long since I've been outside I almost forgot what the outside world was like.  I sighed and swam back down before falling asleep.
