now i listen and laugh...

november 14th

"dylannn," mia says.

"yes, love?" he replies.

"wanna play video games with me?"

"obviously. you're gonna lose."

"i don't think so, sweetie."

january 23rd

"mia? where you at?" dylan asks.

"i'm at the coffee shop with elaine and audrey. why?" she replies.

"i thought we could hang out."

"i'm sorry, dylan, but i had made plans with them already. we could hang out tomorrow?"

"whatever."

march 17th

"dylan?" mia asks, walking up to him at his locker.

he continues talking to his friends.

"why the fuck are you ignoring me?"

dylan turns around, and his friends walk away.

"i don't know, you tell me."

with that, he walks away, leaving mia confused.

april 3rd

"is dylan still ignoring you?" elaine asks.

"pretty much, yeah," mia replies.

"why don't you just break up with him?"

"because i'm an idiot and i still like him."

may 27th

after another two months, dylan is still ignoring mia.

although it's not official, she knows it's over.

—

june 30th

as much as she hates herself for it, mia misses dylan.

he played with her heart, and she hates him for that, but as much as it hurts her, she can't hate him.

september 4th

after three months, mia and dylan are officially over.

now, he's just someone in her past.

and to think she spent all that time crying over him, wishing he still liked her, just makes mia laugh out loud.
