 Katherine's POV

"Please...please I promise, I'll do better next time. Bob, I need this job." I pleaded to my boss, who was staring down at me with a less then pleased expression plastered across his face.

"Katherine, this is the last time. I gave you warning after warning, if you show up late, you're fired." It was true, he had warned me if I continued to show up late, my waitressing position over at BJ's, the local bar and grill in Huntington Beach, California was as good as gone. Begging was no use at this point.  I was offically unemployed.

I'd moved to Huntington Beach on a whim over from New York state about a month ago. All my life I'd dreamed of laying under palm trees and watching beautiful sunsets on a nightly basis, and now that it was here at my fingertips, all I wanted was to bask in it. There was one problem though. I was an 18 year old fresh out of high school. With little work experience, trying to manage taking classes at the local college and earn enough cash to put food on my table. "This is so bad..." I whispered to myself, as I clutched my purse tighter and continued down Main Street, making my way over to apartment which was in walking distance from the restaurant. I knew one thing was for sure. My best friend, who I was sharing our crappy one bedroom apartment with was gonna kill me.

As I walked, completely lost in my negative thoughts that were flooding through my mind, I thought I heard something. Sort of like wheels on cement. Before I had the chance to look up, I was down.

Wesley's POV

My mind was racing as I skated down Main Street over in HB. I just didn't get it... one second we were perfect, the next, there she was making out with another dude at my own house party. I was literally fuming as I looked down at the lightup wheels of my sunset board. It was starting to get a little dark out at this point. That's when her face flashed back into my mind and I lost it all over again.

"Watch out!" Was all I heard, as I crashed into someone and toppled off my board and on top of her. "Jeez, watch where you're going!" She yelled, pushing me off of her. I stared in shock as she swiped her blonde hair behind her neck.

"I'm so sorry, are you okay? I really didn't see you." I said. I gave her a seductive look, thinking maybe I could charm her and it'd make up for it, but I could already tell that this girl wasn't like the rest. She was different. She looked up at me then, and I could see her blue eyes sparkling even though the sun had set by this point. She half smirked at me then and as cliche it sounds, I was in love.

"Yeah. I think so." She said, as I held out my hand and helped her up.

"I'm Wes, nice to meet you." I said, trying to hold her gaze. But I couldn't. She just keept looking down at the ground and brushing pale strands of hair behind her ear.

     "I'm Katherine." She smirked.

"Katherine. Nice. I like that name."

"Thanks." She said back, laughing a little. Her laugh gave me chills.

"So, Katherine..." I started to say, as I looked down at her leg. I noticed the blood dripping down it then. "Oh my god! You're bleeding like crazy." I said as I kneeled down to get a closer look at the gash on her shin.

"Oh, shoot." She mouthed. "I must have cut it when I fell. Or, you know, when you fell on top of me." She joked. I felt like such a jerk. Here was this beautful girl and of course her first impression of me was that I'm an annoying skater kid who doesn't look where he's going.

"Let me help you out. There's a CVS right across the street. I'll buy a first-aid kit. Please." I begged. Truthfully, it was a good excuse to spend some more time with her.
