Katherine's POV

It was later in the afternoon, and Wes and his brother were prepping for their gig. Huntington Beach was a wildly popular town, and loads of locals and tourists walked through this area constantly, so they were bound to have a nice sized audience. I sat on the cement ground, fidling with my shoe laces as I listened to Wes strum his guitar while Keaton did some vocal warmups. "Hey..." I heard, causing me to jolt around. There stood Rachel, a warm smile on her face. I hopped up excitedly to greet my best friend who had showed up after all.

     "I didn't think you'd come!" I shouted, hugging her.

"Of course, Kath. Do you really think I'd ditch you like that? Besides, we hardly get to spend any time together with this guy in your life now..." Rachel said, a sarcastic yes light hearted tone in her voice as she pointed over at Wes. He looked up from his guitar then, and walked over to me and Rachel.

"Hey, Rach!" Wes said, shooting her a smile as he waved. Rachel rolled her eyes.

"Wesley." She said before looking away from him. Wes looked at me, and I just shrugged, laughing a little. He chuckled, too and then walked back over to his brother to warm up some more.

"Rachel would you be nicer to him. You're making him feel bad." I whispered, nudging her.

"Kat, I just don't want you to get hurt! Didn't your mother ever warn you not to date a musician?" She hissed jokingly, crossing her arms.

"I'm not gonna get hurt, he's a sweetheart. Rachel, he's my boyfriend." I said, grinning at her.

"Kat! W..what? Boyfriend?!" She stuttered. I shushed her, looking behind me and seeing Wes looking over his hsoulder at us.

"Rach, please. Be nice. He treats me so well, he's nothing like Dean." I whispered, my muscles tensing from simply uttering his name. I saw Rachel's eyes grow sad, and I could tell she was reminiscing on dark times just as I was.

"Kat just...be careful..." Rachel muttered, as I heard the first couple of chords to Sunset Boulevard start to play, and Wes began to sing.

Lets take a trip to Sunset Boulevard in the city of stars...the city of blinding lights and starry eyes...I said now welcome to the city of angels... The boys sang, nailing every note. Rachel and I vibed to the music, noticing the crowd slowly start to grow thicker and thicker around the guys. I kept my eyes on Wes the whole time, catching him glance over at me and wink every so often.

The guys sang a few more songs, and by then the sun was just starting to set over Huntington Beach. I looked over at Rachel, who seemed to be actually enjoying herself. I smiled, hoping that maybe seeing Wes tonight doing what he loves would change her opinion on him and open her eyes. "Alright guys, this is our last song. Thank you all so much for coming out here, we appreciate the love and support! We are Emblem3!" Keaton announced, as Wes began to strum his guitar and sing a song they wrote together awhile back called Reason. I told Wes it was my favorite when he sang it to me, and he promised they'd close with it... just for me. I was beginning to find out that Wes never broke his promises.

I was watching the guys intently, smiling up at them from my criss crossed position on the ground, due to the fact that my legs were tired and achy by then, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see two girls. One of which was the one who had approached Wes at Smoothie Heaven that one day. The other was a tall, tan blonde girl. Beautiful, to say the least. For some reason I was immidiately intimidated by her presence. "This is her!" Sasha said pointing at me. I stood up, brushing myself off as I eyed up the blonde girl who was staring me down visciously. Rachel stood up behind me,.
