Chapter 5

bela and mahir woke up and got dressed, determined to find answers to all the questions they had. little did they know that these questions would be replaced by more and newer questions as the day progressed....

they went outside their room and towards their parents who were in their room. andy was working on the sofa while sumitra was sitting on the bed. they looked up and saw bela and mahir. 

they exchanged pleasantries and bela and mahir began to explain everything ( except the part where bela and vish murdered everyone as they had decided to keep that between them.) to the parents and their faces turned from shock to acceptance. both were happy that their parents were not having a problem with this. but mahir was confused about one thing and so he asked his parents, " mom , dad i don't understand how i became a naag because both of you and everyone else in our family is a human, so how did i become a one??" mahir was very confused when the sehgals looked like they had seen a ghost. he looked towards bela who looked equally as confused as him, if not more.

"mahir beta, you see....." his mother began awkwardly.

"what is it mom? why are you both not saying anything? is there anything you have hidden from me?" mahir asked.

"we wanted to tell you but with everything going on we couldn't find the time. your mother told us to give you a letter on your 27 th birthday but we.." andy said but mahir cut him off.

"what do you mean my mother gave you both... you are my mom " he said, pointing towards sumitra.

"beta, we adopted you when you were just a baby. but you are our son. just because we don't share blood doesn't change that we raised you and we love you." sumitra continued. mahir just looked back and forth between his parents, confused and shocked. 

then it was everyone else's turn to be shocked as mahir suddenly hugged them both saying that he loved them too and they were his parents. they hugged him back and gave him the letter. bela and mahir went back to their room where bela, on seeing how sad mahir actually looked, just went and hugged him. they stayed there, wrapped up in each other's embrace and mahir calmed down. no words needed to be exchanged between them as their love and connection was enough that both knew what the other was going to say without even needing to hear it.

they sat on the bed and mahir opened the letter. it said,

to my baby boy Mahir,

if you are reading this letter, it means i am no more in this world. i'm sorry i wasn't there when you were young and i had to give you up because i knew i was in danger and i didn't want you to have the same fate as i had. but know this that i have and will always love you and you will be in my heart forever. 

there are many hidden secrets, some you already know and some you don't. i had to give you up so that you could live and be away from those horrible people who were trying to kill us. just remember not to trust anybody who is a relative of mine. the only person i know you can trust is the gurudev near our panchner haveli. take care and visit him as soon as you can. just show him the birthmark behind your neck and he will tell you everything.

mahir was shocked on reading the letter. why would his mother not trust her own family members. while, bela, on reading the letter, gasped. mahir asked her what happened and she told him that suryavanshis were human royalty who were the only ones other than naagrani who were able to pick up the naagmani.

mahir said, " wait you said suryavanshis were human, then how am i a naag?"

"i think we will have to find the answer to that by going to the panchner haveli and meeting the gurudev." bela replied, feeling very confused.

mahir went to tell his parents they were going to panchner and bela went downstairs, to find yuvi who began to tell her how much he loved her. bela told him to shut up and on seeing that mahir was coming, went towards him after telling yuvi (vikrant) that she loved mahir and was his wife and so he should stay away from her.

she went and looped her hand through her husband's and both went to panchner......
