Chapter Three:
Faith spends the next few months putting her all into her dream job. Faith always wanted to be a musician like her father but she didn't ever think she could. But with the help of Mae and Omar she did. She had her own band named Auburn Days. She was ecstatic, they played small shows around Vegas and even some in LA. After she knew things with the band were solid she started looking into her biological parents. She wanted to know them. She even had her DNA tested. She was shocked to learn that her biological mother actually lived in La, So did her older brother. She didn't get the first name though. Just a last name. She decided to drive down there one day because she had the weekend off and the band had a show there next week. She arrived at her bio mother's house but no one was home. So she left a letter in the mailbox with her number. She decided that it was time to grab a bite to eat. She pulled up to a taco bell. For some reason, the drive-through was closed. She didn't really mind. She was only in LA for a few days. Why not enjoy it. She orders a steak quesadilla and three soft shell tacos with just cheese and sour cream. She smiled to herself and quietly ate her food when she heard the restaurant become quite loud. She ignored it mostly till it didn't stop when the group sat at a table. She had never heard people be so obnoxious in her whole life working as a waitress. She decided to give them a piece of her mind. She got up and stormed over there noticing one was missing.
"Hey! Do you think it's ok to come into a business and make a bunch of noise?" She asked slamming her hand on the table.
"Yeah sure whatever sweet cheeks! Give us a twirl and then go get out damn drinks!" One said with his sunglass still on his face.
"One My name isn't sweet cheeks it's Faith! Secondly, I'm not a server and even if I was that's not a way to treat a woman. Have some decency and shut the hell up! There are other people here besides you dipshits!" Faith said going to walk away.
"Damn Sweet Cheeks had some sass! She'd be good in the sack!" Another one practical yelled. Faith turned around and smacked him straight across the face. After she went to pull her hand away the guy grabbed her wrist. She winced a little. The guy was pushing down in where her scar was. He noticed it and grabbed her other wrist. He scuffed and shoved her down to the ground. A loud bark came from, Killer who came running over to Faith. She cringed. This gave her anxiety and reminded her about her last run-in with Peter. She scrambled to her feet pulling Killer along with her. She grabbed her food and purse and quickly stormed out of the restaurant. She sat down on the ground outside and closed her eyes. She felt Killer lay across her lap. He was doing DPT. Deep Pressure Therapy helps with PTSD.
"Hey, do you happen to have a cigarette?" A voice asked sitting next to her.
She sighed and dug in her purse she pulled one out and handed it to the stranger before taking one for herself. When she looked over she realized it was the missing guys from inside. He then realized who she was by the long cross tattoo on her bicep.
"F.. Faith..." He said staring at her.
"H ..hi Max.." She said lighting her cigarette.
"W..what are you doing in La? He asked fully turning to face her.
"Finding my Biological mother and brother. I didn't even know you were in LA." She said taking a long drag from her cigarette.
"Faith I'm so sorry about what I said... I was just so angry at Ronnie and myself. That I took it out on you." He said trying to apologize.
"It's fine max. I'm fine. It was almost three years ago. I'm over it." She said trying to not show that it did hurt her.
He caught a glance of her wrist and pulled it to him to get a closer look. "Jesus Christ Faith. When Mae said you tried to kill yourself I thought maybe you overdosed but this. Faith that's not you. Why'd you done that? He asked.
"You hurt me, Max... Your words hurt me.. But they were true... So I did what I thought would make it better." She said trying to stop the tears.
"Oh my god Faith I'm so sorry.. This is all my fault.." Max said hugging her.
"Max it's not your fault. It never was. It's mine. I'm the one who plunged that needle into my skin, not you. You didn't force me to slit my wrists open either. In a way, you saved me, if you wouldn't have told me to disappear. Then I wouldn't have attempted suicide and gotten myself help. I've been clean for almost three years Max. That's because you saved me. " She said looking down at the "Stronger Now" tattoo above the scars.
"You also could've died because of what I said Faith." He said.
"I get that Max I do but you need to forgive and forget it. I have. She said putting out her cigarette and standing up."It was nice to see you again Max but I really do need to get going." She said as she watched as the guy she slapped walked outside.
"Hey, sweet cheeks. Yo Max ditch the chick we gotta eat and go to practice." He said winking at Faith.
"Craig quit being an asshole. Her name is Faith. She was leaving anyway. I'm going to walk her to her car." Max said shoving Craig with his shoulder as he walked Faith to her car.
Craig winked again and Faith grimaced."I mean it, Max. It was nice seeing you again." Faith said opening the door for Killer to get in. The dog climbed she smiled.
"Me too, maybe I'll see you around sometime," Max said with a wink.
She rolled her eyes and laughed as she nudged him with her elbow."Goodbye Max," She said giving him a hug.
"See ya around Faith." He said slipping his number in the pocket of her shorts and pulling away from the hug.
