"You know, when you suggested we explore some Roman catacombs or whatever they were, I didn't expect to go through another portal," I mumbled, looking from the new setting over to the Doctor.
"Really?" She returned my look.
"I mean, I expected something strange. Just...not another portal. Where are we anyway?"

The Doctor looked around, mumbling something under her breath. I gave her a worried look, and she seemed to remember that I was there.
"Chloe, we've travelled to an outside universe. Whatever happens, try not to be sucked in."
"Sucked in?! We're in some sort of spooky universe. What could possibly get me..." I paused.

"Do you hear something?" I asked the Doctor. She nodded and grabbed my hand, trying to pull me away. When the something came into my view, I broke away and curiously moved closer. "Oh my gosh..."

The person I saw was immediately recognizable. The first thing I noticed was an iconic red and black titanium suit with a spider in the center.
"Peter...," I whispered. "You're Peter Parker."
Peter nodded quickly. "Yeah...but you need to come, Chloe. They're all waiting for you."

"Chloe, This isn't real. You're starting to get sucked in."
"Who's waiting for me?" I ignored the Doctor.
"The other Avengers!"
I blinked. "The Avengers... But they're-and you're-from movies and comic books. How are you real?"
"In this universe, we're all real," he replied. "We need to go now. Tony's waiting for you."

"Tony...?" That didn't sound right. "Why would he want me?"
"Well, he and Steve, and the others wanted to make you apart of the team. Tony even made stuff for you!"
"Who else is there?"
"Well, everyone. Wanda, Vision, Natasha, Clint..."
"Can you excuse me?" I cut Peter off, backing up towards the Doctor.

"There's a lot of stuff wrong," I whispered to her. "In the films, Peter calls Tony 'Mr. Stark,' Tony and Cap haven't exactly made up, and Wanda and Vision, and Peter, got erased! You clearly know about this place, Doctor. Where are we?"

The Doctor sighed, seeming to get more worried. "We're in a solitract universe. The solitract wants people to stay, so it takes the form of someone or something to try and get people to stay. For you, it just happened to be Spider-Man."
My eyes widened. "What does that mean?! Are we trapped here?"

The Doctor shook her head. "You decide to stay or to go. Right now, you need to decide to go. Just tell him that you have something else to do outside of here."

I paused. "Can't they sense if you're saying it out of fear or desperation? Plus, what if I didn't want to go? I mean, isn't it my decision?
The Doctor gave me a look. "You'll be lost here forever. Something very bad could happen..."

"I know, and just because there's a possibility that I want to stay, doesn't mean that I actually want to. It was just a thing I wanted to point out." I quickly cut her off. "So, please don't feed me lines. I can handle making this decision on my own. I've trusted you, so please trust me with this. I know what to say. I promise."

The Doctor nodded. "...Alright then. It's in your hands now."

I sighed and walked back up to 'Peter.' "Are you ready?!" He asked in a slightly annoyed way.
"Actually...I have to decline the offer. Being and Avenger is awesome, but doing it like this, isn't even doing it at all. You're too out of character for me to believe that you are even Peter Parker. Plus, I'd be leaving everything I know and love to stay here. Especially my friends." I turned back to the Doctor, suddenly feeling bad for my rant earlier. I looked back to 'Peter.' "So, please let us leave."

The figure sighed, letting the Doctor and me out of the world. Soon, we were back in the catacombs.
"We're back! Oh my goodness we did it!"
"It was you, Chloe," the Doctor smiled at me. "You handled that really well."

I sighed, looking down. "Hey, Doctor...I'm sorry for going off on a tangent earlier. Something just struck with me when you said that."
"Oh, don't worry about it," she replied. "I've dealt with much worse."

I sighed, glad that she said that. "Thanks...so what do we do now?"
"Explore these catacombs some more?"
"That sounds amazing!" With that, the Solitatract encounter still lingered in the back of my mind for the time being.
