Pattie Mallette's Home. Stratford, Canada.

Pattie's POV (ooh)

I was sitting on the patio of my gorgeous mansion with my girls in my backyard. There are 5 of us, and we all get together each week to talk about our feelings. I think it's good to have conversations like those with your friends on a regular basis because it's good to rant about all of life's troubles. However, there is a rule that we do have: No Phones.

So, when my good friend Emma pulled out her phone, you should know that I was very upset. "Emma, what are you doing? You know you're not allowed to have your phone out." I asked, looking at her with disappointment. "I'm sorry, Pattie. But, I got a video sent to me. It's of your son and some girl kissing at a bar."

That sentence made me go into utter shock. My son doesn't date, he doesn't fall in love, and he definitely doesn't go to bars with girls. He's 30 and he has told me on multiple occasions that he has no interest of even getting a girlfriend because he's so focused on his career. He doesn't want to be tied down.

"She's probably his new 'Friends With Benefits'. Justin doesn't fall in love. He just messes around for fun. He doesn't want to be in a committed relationship." I said as I continued to focus on my self help book. "Well, based on this video, I would say otherwise. He seems very smitten with this girl." Emma said, handing me her phone so I could see the video for myself. Sure enough, there was my son sitting next to a girl at a bar and he was grinning from ear to ear. I continued watching and he suddenly leaned in to kiss her.

"Who is she?" I asked, handing Emma the phone back. "Her name is Rachel Taylor. She's a Film and Television professor at UCLA. That's probably how they met." Another one of my friends, Michelle, replied. "Is he bringing her to the wedding?" I asked, referring to Justin's childhood best friend, Ryan Butler's, upcoming wedding. "Well, I've been told that the whole purpose of that dinner was so he could invite her. Whatever it is between them is likely very serious." Emma said.

"Yes, but why hasn't he told me about it? After all, I am his mother." I said, crossing my legs. "Maybe she's a commoner. Besides, professors do not get paid very well. He probably didn't tell you because he knew you wouldn't approve." Michelle replied. "That's ridiculous. Why wouldn't I approve of him having a girlfriend?" I asked, confused.

"When he was 17, he dated a girl named Anna Baker. Do you remember her?" My other friend, Serena, asked. "Of course I do. They were in a relationship up until he was 21. Everybody thought they would get married when they got older." I replied. "And what happened? You told her that she would never be good enough for Justin because she wasn't rich like he was. So, she broke up with him so he could find and marry a girl who came from a rich family." Emma added her opinion into the mix.

"What makes you think this girl won't be any different? She's a professor, she probably makes fifty thousand a year. That's not good enough for my son. He needs someone who's on our level of wealth." I said, crossing my legs. "Pattie, Justin likely makes the same thing as her. You can't judge her based off of how much money she has. Who knows? Maybe she's the granddaughter of Elizabeth Taylor." Michelle added in.

"Then in that case, she's Hollywood royalty. That is, if she really is Elizabeth Taylor's granddaughter." I said, raising an eyebrow. "If she's not, will that change anything?" Serena asked. "Of course it will. If she's not, then she's just a regular girl that's living off of a professor's salary. My son needs to date someone that has the same status as us. Otherwise, she will never be good enough." I said.

"Again, we're back at the Anna situation. You can't forbid him from finding happiness just because this girl isn't rich like us." Emma said. "Well, let's just see if she really is rich. Otherwise, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it." I said as we stopped talking about my son and his girlfriend.

It's not that I'm not happy he's found someone to spend his life with, I just hope she's someone who's worthy of him and not some gold digger. He's been in way too many relationships where they were just with him because of his status. That's why I've been so demanding that he finds someone rich. Then I know she's likely with him because she loves him for who he is as a person, not because of his money. But, I guess I'll find out at the wedding.

Anna Baker... remember that name.
